And as for the confidence in his ability,  I again can't help but think of that first time camp I saw him here.  He was taking batting practice with his group as is the normal routine when the three players engaged in an informal and impromptu HR derby.  That a skinny teenager like Almora would agree to this competition is surprising enough.  It may be even more surprising when I tell you the other two players were big time power prospects Dan Vogelbach and Jorge Soler.

 

And here's the kicker: Almora won.

John Lackey was the latest to poke fun at Ross’ playing career on a day when catchers Kyle Schwarber and Willson Contreras combined for three home runs Wednesday in a 15-11 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

 

“We got rid of Rossy,” Lackey quipped. “He stinks. He can’t hit. And we should be better.”

 

“Rossy will tell you,” Lackey said. “Willie is better than he is. Let’s be honest. It’s not a surprise. We’re trying to be better this year.”

Basically it says that Rizzo may have to "cool down" Lester because he's so emotional on the mound (because willson is presumably incapable being a "fiery Latino"...). I would say that Lackey and maybe even Arrieta are as much - if not more - emotional on the mound.

Latino-ness aside, Contreras is pretty damn fiery. Not that a fiery dood can't calm someone else down when they are pissed.
