they shuffled the rotation around.

this kind of annoys me as I was looking forward to seeing arrieta on monday, but w/e. also lester hates the pomp and circumstance of opening day festivities so i'm sure he's jazzed about doing it twice in a about week.

Oh well, he gets the gift of pitching to the hapless vs. LHP Dodgers

true but he was facing the brewers anyway and jake hasn't exactly struggled vs LA.

Conspiracy theory: They're actively managing Lester's innings and giving him the best matchup while riding Arrieta into the ground 2008 Brewers CC Sabathia style.

so KB is just hitting baseballs into the river today?

Yes he was, my office has a view across the sun-times building. Several kayakers were going after Red Bull sponsored baseballs, can't miss out on those collector's items.

I figured they were part of the event, put there to retrieve the balls and not just leave them in the river.

Does anyone want to plan to meet up for a game in Wrigley July5 or sell season tickets for game?

http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/43741/should-bullpen-be-a-concern-for-cubs

This article by Jesse Rogers seems a bit reactionary after the bullpen's poor performance over the weekend. We get it Jesse, it's frustrating to lose games late but it's going to happen from time to time. He politely calls it a "concern" which maybe it is but what about before this weekend? Up until the Pirate series the bullpen had been pretty darn good with the exception of Strop.

The Good: Edwards has looked great and if we had him over the weekend the Cubs probably don't get swept. Davis has been solid and seems to play the part of closer quite well. Uehara has had one bad outing out of 7 appearances otherwise lights out. Rondon has looked very good and probably the single most encouraging thing about the bullpen. Monty's first game was a brutal loss but he's decent enough since.

The Bad: Strop didn't wake up one day and become a bad pitcher. I think he has the ability to rebound but it seems to be in his head right now, not a physical problem, and he just needs a coupe of good outings to right the ship. Grimm is a complete enigma, he has great stretches and then he falls apart again and I expect this trend to continue. Duensing was never really someone we thought would be a big contributor and was lucky to even be on the roster.

So by my count the Cubs have 5 arms to count on, two arms that are good but are under performing, and one complete dud. So those are my "concerns".

Maybe he meant to type clapping or perhaps clotting??

Nah...but that doesn't mean any of us would recognize it if we saw it...

I guess I forgot that this is industry jargon. We manufactured the silver painted aluminum that wraps the canopies and columns that you can see behind the crowd.

We get it. It's something you say when you want people to ask what you do.
