I feel like Lackey should either have not been included at all because I hate him or he shouldve been "Customer Service" or "Public Relations" or something else that he would obviously be terrible at.

Nevertheless, he couldn't help but be impressed with the spring performances of pitcher Eddie Butler and second baseman Ian Happ, who could join the big-league team later this season.

Butler, who was acquired from the Rockies, would have been on the opening-day roster if the Cubs had 26 spots, Epstein said. Butler limited opponents to a .204 batting average this spring.

"He was exactly what we hoped for," said Epstein, who marveled at Butler's high-strike percentage.

Happ has five home runs this spring. Epstein believes Happ's power was harnessed in college because of a bout of mononucleosis and a sports hernia.

"He couldn't have been more impressive, not only with the bat, but the way he handled himself in the clubhouse," Epstein said. "He won over a lot of teammates and coaching staff and the manager."

Happ will play primarily second base at Triple-A Iowa but will see time in the outfield.

Probably an odd request, but does anyone know how to adjust the printable schedule PDF so it doesn't have the huge margins and small print?

http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/chc/downloads/y2017/2017-Cubs-Schedule.pdf

It looks perfect in the window but when I try to print it gets stretched thin with a ton of white space on the sides.

It looks like the raw PDF is much bigger than a single page, so you probably need to adjust the margins to be basically 0 to get as close to 'fullscreen' as possible.

How do you do that?

Depends on your OS/PDF Viewer/Printer I think. In windows you'll want to check Page Setup under the print options as a first check.

Thought this was somewhat interesting in a FG article about the Yankees rebuild.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/how-brian-cashman-sold-the-yankees-rebuild/

In the fourth week of July last year, while hosting Baltimore, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reached an agreement to send Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs. It would be the first move in a partial dismantling of the club, a rebuild in New York representing one of the rarest roster-construction projects in baseball. But Cashman, and Cubs president Theo Esptein, had to wait. They had to wait for approval from Yankees ownership.

With the framework having been agreed upon, Chapman was still a Yankee as he entered a game on July 23rd against the San Francisco Giants at Yankee Stadium. He pitched the ninth and 10th innings.

“Chapman went two-plus innings, not something normally [that occurs] if you are going to execute a trade” Cashman told FanGraphs. “[steinbrenner] waited 72 hours to green light it as he discussed it with his family. It was not an easy decision. I was keeping Theo on hold, essentially. I told him ‘I will let you know if ownership says ‘yes’.’ I said ‘I am recommending it. We’ll see what happens.’”

Chapman was still a Yankee as the club boarded a charter flight on July 24th to play a series in Houston. When the Yankees arrived in Houston, ownership had OK’d a type of plan rarely seen in New York. In a rare tactical retreat, the Yankees traded instant gratification — the hope of sneaking into the playoffs as a Wild Card — for the delayed variety.

Randall is a Cubs twitter star, I'm not sure why he occasionally stops by to slum it with us.

NSBB was Twitter before there was Twitter.

I know Barstool/Pardon My Take doesn't have the best reputation around here, but they had Theo on this morning and it was a pretty solid interview in terms of getting actual answers from Theo on building the team. Theo comes off about as exactly as you'd expect in terms of being incredibly cocky and self-assured, but he actually answers some of the questions I thought he would deflect.

they shuffled the rotation around.

this kind of annoys me as I was looking forward to seeing arrieta on monday, but w/e. also lester hates the pomp and circumstance of opening day festivities so i'm sure he's jazzed about doing it twice in a about week.
