Poor Ronnie Woo Woo. Can't mooch off of the team anymore like he could when 5000 people might show up to games in the early 90's

If they banned him from the park, I'd be OK with it.

Still, there’s no reason to treat this loyal fan as if he were a nuisance.

I'm pretty sure there is a picture of Ronnie Woo Woo located under nuisance in the dictionary.

What Ronnie “Woo Woo” wants most is recognition that he has been an important part of this city’s legendary team.

“I have nothing to lose.”

Still trying to figure out what part of the constitution this violates... :-k

So one month in, how is everyone feeling about the Cubs?

like a honeymooner who married the world's most beautiful, and rich, woman.

DGAF if she woke up a little worse for wear after last night's late night party down session

Okay honey, I think it's time to get out of bed and take a shower. You should probably put on something other than sweats today and maybe check in with the office.

Sorry for sounding cliche but the honeymoon is literally over.

Turns out the hangover was actually malaria

Its only a month into the season, but still, I didn't expect, a month into the season, to have only one starting position player with an OPS+ over 100

should it not? it's all part of his performance just like his daily dongs in Des Moines last month

i don't immediately recall him having a bout with mono or busted wrist that was sapping his performance, to contextualize those struggles

I won't go so far to say that's the *right* expectation, but Happ's is a unique situation. Adjusted for level he has 800+ PA as a pro that don't put him as ready for anything above replacement level in MLB. A month of hitting HR in a hitter-friendly league doesn't wipe that away, although like I said in the first sentence, replacement level is probably regressing a bit hard.

didn't happ talk about an adjustment he made (maybe it was a leg kick thing? don't remember exactly) in the AFL last fall?

who knows how much of his production since has been sustainable but it might be a serious factor.

Hitting Coaches Hate Him!

See how he added 150 points of OPS with one simple trick!

i mean he clearly has a good approach at the plate and what appears to be pretty effortless power.

i think it might be myopic to put too much stock into his zips projections based highly on his AA struggles. especially with how good this organization's track record is with developing hitters who profile like him.

i'm not saying he's this guy now from now on...but i think those projections are silly low given how on fire he's been since fall (with major caveats, yes) and the eye test.

by your logic, Russell, Schwarber, Zobrist are bad baseball players now

uh, no

i mean i pretty clearly stated that i'm not saying he's THIS guy from now on, but those projections are also extremely low and bad

I'm cautiously optimistic with Happ, which is a lot more than I've ever been with him. His swing-and-miss tendencies have always scared the crap out of me, like they do with any low-contact minor leaguer. But, I'm willing to buy into the idea that he's made adjustments, since he's hit for power in Spring Training, Iowa and now in the big leagues, even. I know it's still in really small samples. But, I'll buy that it's possible.

Still, I'm not quite ready to buy into him, and I have little hope in him being some type of cornerstone for us in the future.
