When does k rate normalize? I know it comes after contact %, which has obviously improved a lot

60 PA: http://www.fangraphs.com/library/principles/sample-size/

Which means 114 PA of 20% K rate with a .389 wOBA is a very good sign. Pitchers will adjust back again, but we can pretty safely say that Bryant made a meaningful and positive change. We'll have to wait and see exactly how sustainable that improvement is.

What is the precedent for a 24 year old to have such a drastic cut in his K rate?

I remember Kyle basically saying Bryant has very little development he can do at his age and his K rate would probably not drastically improve.

Anthony Rizzo (except he was 23, not 24).

And Kyle wasn't wrong. Just because something isn't probable to happen doesn't make it impossible.

So if this is Bryant's strikeout% going forward, what are we looking at in terms of ceiling?

Something like those good Troy Glaus years that he's been comped at before hold pretty well still.

He'll sneak a .300 season or three in.

I actually thought I made a comment about how we're not talking enough about Bryant shaving almost 10%(!!!) off his rookie K rate. Guess not, but the guy is a legit monster.

we're really not talking enough about the whole team basically shaving like 10% off their K rate; it's a scary prospect to consider

i know when bryant was in the minors and even last year some, anytime anyone said they were glad we didn't spend resources on guys like anibal sanchez or prince fielder during the rebuild, it was met with a derisive "but that would have cost us bryant." it was kind of a joking dig at the people who were ok with losing out on some key FAs since that chain of events led to us being able to draft bryant

but really, in retrospect how many losing seasons would have been worth it in your mind? 10? at least 12?

so now we're getting the prolific masher we once imagined, except we now also have the knowledge that he's an awesome defender and baserunner too.

i cannot answer because i do not want to ponder the existence of a world in which kris bryant is playing for a team other than the cubs.

I think I'll write an article about how awesome Kris Bryant is for the front page tomorrow.

I was going to put out a request that you get to the bottom of Jake's issues, but yeah, I'd much prefer this one. They've all been great...keep up the good work.

I was planning on doing that, but I don't really feel like also getting blackout drunk tomorrow.

Actually, I'll probably just do both, anyway.

Bryant went from 3.3fWAR to 3.9fWAR after yesterday's game. He now trails only Trout, Donaldson,Altuve,Machado and Bogearts for most valuable position player. He is .1fWAR from being 2nd on that list and now on pace for 8.4fWAR this year.

Saw an article that said he's the only player in history to have 3 HR and 2 doubles in a game. Surely not?

since at least 1913, yes

Its sure going to suck when he leaves the Cubs in 5 years for the Yankees and a $500m contract because we kept him in Iowa for 3 weeks.
