I hated Hundley and I was like 13 at the time and hadn't moved past hero worship of anyone who was on a sports team yet.

The only other king of the hated (with apologies to LaTroy Hawkins and a few others) is Edwin Jackson. I know he's a decent guy and it wasn't his fault he was Theo's first big FA signing here, but my God, that dude's work for the Cubs just made me angry on a visceral level unseen before or since.

i find it hard to hate jaxon that much for his performance because of how bad most of those teams were.

as a deep cut, i'd like to throw 2015 brian schlitter in the mix. i would get so mad when joe would bring him in. i'm amazed that was somehow only 7 innings. felt like 50+

most of my hate is for pitchers - glendon rusch (though he follows me on twitter now so he's cool) shawn estes and jason maquis.

man i hated estes and dusty so much for cruz not starting

then we traded cruz for horsefeathering andy pratt!

yeah, cruz never turned out to be anything special but jesus christ both of those decisions

i primarily hated schlitter because there would always be an obligatory poster who would say

"WELL THIS GAME JUST WENT DOWN THE SCHLITTER"

I freely admit I was probably directing some of my general hatred of our suckiness at Jackson. There was nothing rational about it.

Juan Pierre, I hate everything he was supposed to stand for (leadoff guy, base stealer, etc.). But mostly, I hate Dusty Baker.

I think Russell is the product of a terrible upbringing who brought his learning history with him. I'm not excusing his behavior. I don't think he gets it still with his recent comments. I don't think he understands why what he did was wrong. I think he only understands that he got into trouble and is acting his way out of it. He needs a good psychologist and to see the outcomes of his actions by being made to volunteer with social workers who attempt to help battered women. I think he should have been suspended for a year at least to work on his behavioral problems. I think they are much deeper than beating on women. I don't think he's going to be a passable baseball player until he deals with his behavioral problems. I certainly don't think he should be in uniform at all right now, and never again for the Cubs.

new theory: they are keeping Russell around to make Bryant feel better about his hair line

Think more personal. Its all about Theo's hairline.

Who the F is Ismael Valdez?

he was a decent pitcher for the dodgers in the mid 90s but he kinda sucked by the time the cubs got him...and yeah, blisters.

Ah, yes, that rings a bell now. I think I've voided all but Sammy, Kerry, and Brant Brown's dropped fly ball from that era of the Cubs out of my brain. Or I drank too much in college.

as i recall it i hated Todd Hollandsworth unhealthy levels

didn't everyone mostly hate Theriot at some point

I believe Theriot was the most loved player on the team for a couple years.

The amount of Theriot apparel I still see at games is obscene, and is one of the better arguments that this team deserves bad things to happen to it.

Boy, Hollandsworth played a LOT less for the Cubs than I remember being furious over.

I seem to recall that NSBB was pretty split over Theriot for a while. Plenty of people thought he was a raging goober (that's good), but a surprising number wanted him to keep getting playing time (that's bad). And even the former didn't do themselves any favors by tending to be initially wanting Ronny Cedeno instead of Theriot (that's really bad).
