The only reason why this might not be true, is I have a hard time believing somebody like Gordon wouldn't love the opportunity to bury them if he and his other colleagues were told what to write and what not to write. I also don't think guys like Bruce would stay quiet about it.

Seriously, he's on track to be activated as early as Friday. Is there a chance we never see him in a Cubs uniform again? I'm really hoping we just release him or some team decimated by injuries buys that he's "reformed" and gives us something.

I can't see him being released or traded at this point, unfortunately. The team didn't bother bringing in a legitimate backup SS, so I don't imagine that's their plan unless he did some new thing that we don't know about yet. Like, Bote could probably handle a few games here or there at short, but not weeks or months if god forbid Javy were to hit the IL.

 

I think best case is that they option him to Iowa. At that point he'd still be around as insurance, but not on the team. From there we all root for Nico (and Zack Short) to rake and pass Russell on the depth chart before a long term backup SS arises as a need.

We know why big groups of fans give standing O's to players such as Josh Hader and Addison Russell, but I still can't believe they do.

 

I would never, ever stand up and cheer for Russell if I was at a game. It's a direct reflection on anybody who does, in my opinion. Not to get political as I get political, but it's like people who wear MAGA hats. They are basically announcing to the world they are assholes.
