Don't even bother reading it. It's astonishingly terrible, from top to bottom. The comparisons he and Russell make for this horsefeathers storm are absurdly bad.

I wish I saw this before I read it. The [expletive] was inspired by Tiger Woods win because how it made everyone forget about his transgressions or some horsefeathers.

This is horrible for several reasons:

1. Addison Russell has never been or will never be Tiger horsefeathering Woods. No one is going to forget that you abused your wife repeatedly because you put up a .780 OPS

2. He still seems to think the ultimate goal is to win the public back

3. and he plans to do that by being a good baseball player.

No you [expletive], the ultimate goal is to be a horsefeathering good person and treat people, especially ones that care about you, with respect. And even if it was to win over fans, being a good baseball player is never going to erase it. You are damaged goods and this will always be your legacy even if the anger fades, even if the fans soften over time and even cheer you again. You are an abuser, and not just one time, repeatedly and not just physically but psychologically too. Instead of caring about who the average fan thinks about you, maybe try to actually learn to be a better person. In private. Not just a few public displays of remorse.

It's like he's trying to sound contrite but his ego shines right through and to me it seems like he absolutely still does not 'get it'

Plus Tiger's whole thing is horsefeathers he did to himself. Yeah, it sucks he cheated on his wife, but the balls on Russell to compare himself to Woods' situations are absurd. Injury, infidelity and addiction aren't the same as willfully abusing your loved ones, you disingenuous, oblivious horsefeathers.

And it's always bull horsefeathers when abusers act like the right thing to do is to "move on," or "put this behind them." No, you need to own up to this horsefeathers and forever be trying to maybe, MAYBE make up one iota of the horsefeathers you did by trying your damnedest to grow the horsefeathers up, never do this horsefeathers again, and do whatever you can to make amends. Playing horsefeathering good baseball should be way down your list of priorities, you selfish horsefeathers.

God, this idiot is so horsefeathering dumb. It's horsefeathering infuriating that the organization is fostering this garbage.

This is a challenge for him. He has to miss a month of playing baseball. He's the real victim. horsefeathers him. horsefeathers Joe Maddon. horsefeathers the Cubs. horsefeathers Bob Nightengale for this [expletive]. As others have said, he hasn't owned up to anything. It's all "me, me, me." This is just a distraction to him. He's learned nothing. And he remains the biggest piece of horsefeathers.

I am viscerally angry thinking about him in a Cubs uniform again. Don't do it. Get rid of his ass.

On the (very slight) upside, I love that almost all of the replies to that tweet are people dragging the horsefeathers out of Nightengale and Russell. Way to not crush my spirit for once, Twitter.

Anyone as intelligent as Theo allegedly is would read that horsefeathers article for what it is. Maddon doesn't read stuff by his own acerbic admission, so he's fluttering around all clueless and with perceived deniability of the enabling he does.

On top of everything else, is there actually a good baseball reason to take at bats away from Bote and Descalso to give to Russell?

*Pure baseball reason, I hope they never bring him up. The defense is definitely a reason, him at SS and Javy at 2B is better than anything we can currently do on the infield and our pitchers have a top of the league GB rate. Hopefully he just is used more for spot/platoon starts vs LHP (these would be ABs from Heyward, Almora or Schwarber since you don’t want to play Descalso vs LHP often either with KB and Zobrist in OF and Bote at 3B) and late inning defense than given any sort of everyday role.

Unfortunately, the opinions of most of us on this board are BY FAR the minority position on Russell. Just about every other board/page/thread I've checked concerning his reinstatement is full of Addison apologists/second-chancers.

Social media fights about Russell will ultimately turn on how good he is w/ the bat once he comes back. Cynical, I know, but I've seen way too many pathetic fucks for whom the results of their fav sportsball team is the top priority.
