I don't think I saw anyone discuss it but MLB has acknowledged that fly balls are traveling 4 feet less this year than any year in tracking history. The theory is the seams are wider and taller potentially.

Can they just horsefeathers stop it already.

Roki’s year could be a lesson for Japanese players not to come over to the states too quickly. He’s had a miserable year on the mound and now he could get shut down for the rest of 2025. Had he stayed in Japan for the next 2 years, he could have dominated in Japan in that time and come over after having signed a big contract. That’s the risk I suppose.

There are some healthy losing streaks going on right now.

5 - Mets
6 - Yankees, Twins, White Sox
11 - Nationals

Honorable mention to the Giants with 4.

There are 2 really good teams and one average team in this list. Which is something people should realize, happens. I am sure the Cubs will make a list like this at some point of the season. When they do, remember this list and try to relax. I am sure NY city isn’t on edge right now with neither team winning in a week…..😬😅

The Cubs have been weird this year. No long losing streaks and no long winning streaks, just consistently taking 2/3 in most series.

The real story is that access was denied only because it was a game day.  ICE has apparently been staging in their parking lots on non-game days, so let's not allow the Dodgers to make themselves out to be heroes when they just told someone not to sing the national anthem in Spanish in the last two weeks.

Reds are releasing Candelario. He has been bad this year and also hurt. Which might explain him being so bad. Is he someone the Cubs should look into. Doesn’t cost anything and at worst he could be a better bench bat. At best he can play 3rd and maybe hit 10 homers from now to the end of the season.

I saw that and had the same idea.  Switch hitter and adds some power off the bench.  As you mentioned, Ricketts would love the price.

I doubt that there's a team itching to give Candelario a MLB deal after he clears waivers, so giving him an audition to show he's healthy in Iowa seems like a pretty low risk move that could pay dividends if he is able to get right.  He's a fairly uniquely good fit if the bat returns to being playable.

That is my thought. Of course, if he is hurt he is no use. But as a free lottery ticket, why not see if he wants to go to Iowa a bit with the chance of coming back to Chicago?

Candelario should be a hard pass. Lower back injuries on the wrong side of 30 are kind of a big deal.

You do know we are talking about checking him out for free, right? No one would suggest trading for him. But why not sign him to a minor league deal and see if he is healthy. If he is he is at the very least a bench bat. If not, nothing lost.

I know how it works
