Dodgers tried a pen game and let their 2nd guy throw 110 pitches in 4.2 IP allowing 9 runs lol

They also put a position player on the mound in the bottom of the 6th, which really bugs me more than it should.  Not the first time they've forfeited while still requiring their opponent to use real major leaguers to get multiple innings of outs.

There needs to be a rule about this

There technically is(losing teams have to be down 8+ runs, winning teams 10+ and only in the 9th), it's just not equipped to punish teams for de facto forfeiting so early.  My modest suggestion is every out you get with a position player you forfeit offensively, but I get that's potentially too disruptive so forcing losing teams to put real pitchers on the mound til the 8th feels like a good compromise.

It should be a combo of run differential and inning. You shouldn't be able to put in a position player to pitch until the 8th.

Or else just implement a run rule like in college

Watching the Tigers and Orioles here in Michigan scrolling along the bottom of the screen - Jackson Jobe done for the season with UCL surgery.  They've Casey Mize and Skubal but, I gotta think that's a big blow to their rotation.

Elfin started, wouldn't mind him taking Rea place in the rotation, was hoping to see Bautista but, it's 7 - 1, now 10 - 1, Orioles bottom of the 8th.

I’ve just taken a look at the Rockies record and how the hell is 12-55 even possible? Last years White Sox were 17-50 record at this exact stage. 1962 Mets were 19-48.

This is a bad AAA team playing against MLB teams.

Relative to this, Skubal had a poor start today. 6 K's and 2 BBs. Of course he pitched 7 shutout innings.

He largely dominates with just 2 fastballs and a change. He only throws his slider 12% and his curve 2%. Since the start of 2023 he has pitched 362 innings and has just 58 walks and 25 HR allowed. Goodness.

Psssh, if he was a real man he'd pitch that many innings in a season and a month like Bob Gibson.

He's so ridiculously good and outside of the velocity there's nothing that really wows from a visual standpoint.

Brewers trade Civale to the White Sox

Civale asked for a trade after being told he was going to the pen. There were probably a few chuckles in the Milwaukee FO when they found the Sox made the best offer. "You want a trade, buddy? Here ya go. Enjoy total irrelevance."

LOL.  So true.

Yeah, Civale probably gets traded again assuming he doesn't suck and he gets to be a starter.  There are worse things than spending a month and a half in Chicago during the summer and likely landing on a team that's at least decent for the end of the season.

Not sure moving from Milwaukee to Chicago is a step back in the relevance department.

He's a FA next year, I'm sure he doesn't care where he pitches this year as long as he remains in a rotation. Going to the pen would drastically hurt his money making potential in the off season.

Of course Judge broke up Crochet's bid for a SHO in the 9th inning lol

He's absolutely nuts.
