I was at one of the worst of those kinds of games. July 20, 2004.

St. Louis scored one in the first, but the Cubs scored 7 in the bottom of the second off Matt Morris. I thought we had that one in the bag and I was enjoying a beautiful day at the ballpark.

The Cardinals clawed their way back thanks to Pujols going 5-5 with 3 HR. Cubs lost 11-8 after LaTroy Hawkins gave up 3 in the 9th. That was a painful one.

Yep I was at that game, too. So painful

My daughter and I had a blast at this extra innings marathon in Cincinnati. Sat in LF for the parade of relievers (and I think Contreras as well?).

At this point in the season I became a true believer.

The O's beat the Astros last night 12-0 despite Jesus Sanchez robbing a granny from Gunner and a 3-run shot which would have been Basallo's first hit. Robbing 2 homers in a game has to be a pretty rare feat and neither of these robberies were cheap, he got way up.

Tommy Pham bat-flipped a walk

He’s looney tunes. Getting into arguments with a Blue Jays reporter and random people on Twitter after the game.

Which will be after 2 seasons as the Cubs' starting right fielder

don't worry, there's no jomboy in this clip

I know both guys tried to play it down after the game but the look on the catchers face after being hit said it all. He wanted to have words with Valdez but thought better of it.

Valdez’s reaction was that of a guy who knew what he had done and didn’t care.

Ryan Helsley has made 14 appearances with the Mets since getting traded and has allowed a run in 9 of them. After today's outing, his ERA with the Mets is 11.45 and prior to today, his FIP was 5.55.

Valdez crossing up and intentionally hitting a journeyman minor-league catcher, who has 35 career major league appearances under his belt, would have to make him the biggest flog in Baseball.

I saw Colorado passed the 100-game loss mark. What a shame. Denver is a great baseball city. They deserve so much better. Outside of Pittsburgh, I can't think of a worse owner in baseball.
