Cubs are 63-39 against teams not named the Cardinals. That's a 100-win pace. Petition to move to the NL East or remove divisions entirely.

Or put the cardinals on a do not fly list to force them to drive to more games and let the inevitable happen.

Schwarber on the bench...

@TheCCO: #Cubs vs. #WhiteSox, Sale (8/16):

Fowler CF

Denorfia LF

Bryant DH

Rizzo 1B

Soler RF

Russell SS

Castro 2B

Montero C

Herrera 3B

Haren P

Russell batting....6th?

Russell moving up I get. Schwarber not playing against a tough lefty? Ok, I guess. Seems like Joe is testing the limits of our awesomeness.

Not happy about Schwarber sitting, Castro/Herrera are just black holes in this lineup. Hope the other guys can score enough runs to win. I don't mind seeing Russell move up in this weaker lineup.

Castro went 3-4 Friday. He's not incapable of getting hits.

So it's Sale vs Haren and Schwarber isn't in the lineup? Well are 9 game winning streak has been awesome at least! Let's start a new one next game!

Oh, come on; Schwarber's been fantastic, but he's not been carrying the team by himself. Sitting him against a very tough leftie isn't the end of the world, and the rest of the lineup can still do some damage.

I was reading the ESPN game preview this morning and they were trying to make our winning streak seem not so impressive by saying most of the pitchers we have beaten are bad; I don't care who is pitching it's pretty hard to win 15 of 16 in this league. Let's beat Sale today and shut those aholes up.

In Sale's career, lefties have a .521 OPS against him. Righties are at .654.

It's a good day to let Schwarber rest and come in later in the game in a high leverage situation.

Well, that said, lefties have been hitting him this year:

.279 .361 .314 .675

Much better than righties:

.223 .263 .371 .634

Changed my mind; they've got an off day tomorrow, dammit.

I am okay with them sitting him this game because it is the best time to give him some rest. It just lowers my expectations for this game. Hopefully they prove me wrong but even if they don't it doesn't really matter since its only one game.

Don't forget what's at stake today

http://www.thesportsbank.net/core/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Crosstown-Cup_close.jpg

Sox have won it in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014

Cubs have won it in 2013

Overall since 97 the Cubs are 4-10-4 in season series against the Sox but can lower the all time regular season record to 50-54 with a win today

My thought exactly. They've been very good to great at grinding out ABs and getting pitch counts up. Get Sale out of there by the 6th and BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE
