I don't get why anyone hates Samardzija. It's odd.

I can't say that I hate him at all. I just really don't miss him all that much.

I love Samardzija, he was confident enough to convince management to be a starter, proved he was a good enough to be considered an ace, refused to sign a contract extension and as a result allowed us to use him to get Addison Russell and Billy McKinney and then use the money we would've spent on him to help get Jon Lester.

He's the tops, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't hate him (hell, I'm an ND football fan). It's just sort of amusing to watch him struggle after bad-mouthing the Cubs so much, I guess. I can't really explain it. Maybe it's some leftover Sox hate from my younger days bubbling up.

I'm very happy he played well enough here to net us Addison & Billy.

I have no desire to sign him to come back.

He always came off as really cocky & arrogant. A lot of people who met him say he's a prick also. I've just never been a fan of him, that's just me though.

He was really nice to me when I met him, but that was in 2009 when he wasn't a star.

I too am overjoyed that he didn't sign an extension.

I don't hate Samardzija, although I can't say I haven't smirked a little at the comeuppance for him getting knocked around after the recent comments about the Cubs, as well as the Sox for making a pretty poor move to get him in the first place.

I don't know why a part of me is enjoying Samardzija's struggles when I sympathized with Matt Garza for having basically the exact same complaints he did. And yet I am.

Because Shark was always a better fit for the south side.

Just 'cause he was a dirty Indiana boy? That's not fair.

He grew up a Sox fan.

Sure, I'll agree.

If the Cubs do re-sign him, I'm sure I'll find a way to cheer for him again.

Maybe this is swaying my perception, as he was pretty cool and a regular guy when I've met him.

My college roommate was in the same class as him at Valpo HS so I got to meet him a couple times back in 2003/2004. He was pretty cool to me, but my roommate have said that he's somewhat a dick.

I just think he's a meathead. I'm glad everything turned out as well as it did for us with him but I'm not dying to have him back on the team (obviously I'd gladly take him in the rotation)
