Hamels getting torched again. He's given up 7 home runs in 18 innings, the two Chicago teams have given up 8 home runs combined all year.

I take back that I'd trade Javy for him.

[expletive] pitchers. I'll take blind middle infielders who hit it 500 feet (sometimes foul) when they make contact 1/10 times.

I'd still trade Javy for him

The Cardinal fans gave Jason Heyward a curtain call for a solo home run in the third inning that put them up 2-0.

It was his first HR as a Cardinal.

I'm aware of that. Still unnecessary and dumb.

Montero didn't get a curtain call yesterday and that one actually gave the Cubs the lead.

When Bryant hits his first HR at Wrigley the curtain call will be long and loud. The Cubs could be up or down by 14 and it won't matter.

Nor should it.

How so?

Both players are brand new to their teams and have a tremendous amount fan expectation.

One is a rookie who will be around for at least 7 seasons, the other had 84 MLB HRs and will be around for at least 1.

One is a pending free agent that a city is hoping will be around for another contract...

Curtain calls happen. Heyward got one on his first HR as a Cardinal, and Bryant will get one when he hits one at Wrigley. Taking shots at either fan base for liking their players is kind of silly.

The Cardinals fans think they are awesome for doing it. Therein lies the issue.

They are good fans for doing it.

Cheering for your team (or the other team when they make a good play) isn't something to be ashamed of.

I know the whole BFIB crap pisses people off. It should because it's ridiculous. There are great fans for every team. There are idiotic blowhard fans for every team as well. For the most part I think the two fanbases are pretty similar.
