len's getting feisty:

Len Kasper ‏@LenKasper 3h

Lemme get this straight--some fans more willing to believe in 38-46 last place team in '14 than in bona fide prospects for future. Hmmmmmm

He needs to be careful.

I choose to believe this FO is smart enough where they wouldn't even consider disciplining Len for going after meatballs. If anything he should be applauded for it.

I'm okay trading for Stanton (duh), but I'd prefer Russell over Baez as the lead piece. I believe in Javy. I want the power. Just imagine Alcantara, Castro, Stanton, Rizzo, Bryant, Baez back to back in the lineup.

And I'd prefer keeping Russell over Baez but Russell was my favorite non-Cub prospect in the game for 1.5 years now and now that he's a Cub, he's probably my favorite prospect in the game now.

I just don't want the players going after him. Screw the fans.

i love Len's contempt for meatballs, best personified by his no-hitter trolling

Wait until Monday when Bernsy gets him on the show. It will be a thing to hear.

Just had a mini-presser with Shark in Oakland. It's pretty obvious he really wanted out.

Yeah, he tried to be as nice as he could about it, but he couldn't be more pleased to be gone.

It's a good thing for him that his contract is up after next year, since he seemed to be particularly sick of player turnover and uncertainty (along with the obvious lack of winning). Odds are that the A's, as currently constructed, are coming apart after 2015.

I actually thought about how pleased you would be after I heard the news

they've got young players again, but at some point don't you need to add some guys that you can build around to go forward?

C'mon Joe.

Castro and Rizzo are top 3 at their position in the NL/majors. Arrieta has been the best pitcher on Earth thr last 5 weeks.

Not to mention its hard top build around a guy who doesn't want to be built around and guy on a 1-year deal.

more details/links to details about the presser would be appreciated. i want to hear everything about shark's newfound freedom!

Not to be nitpicky but Clayton Kershaw would like a word with you.

We discussed it when you picked him ahead of Javy in the RK draft. Seems to have worked nicely for both of us.

Knowing Beane's reputation of trading, I could see him trading Samardzija this offseason to try and save some money and replenish the organization. Jarrod Parker and AJ Griffin should be back next season.

Basically, he said he was pleasantly surprised that it was Oakland, as he was expecting Toronto or another of the previously rumored teams. Said he was "thrilled" that it was the A's. Seemed quite excited and sincere about it. Said he didn't know it was going down until it was pretty much done, but that that he knew something was coming. Didn't know Hammel was involved right away; thought it was going to be a 2b (Barney) or a reliever going with him.

Said he was happy to be going to a stable and winning situation, implied clearly and strongly that he was sick of player turnover and uncertainty, as well as the losing.

That's right. Which worked well for me, too.

It's a definite possibility, but I'm not sure what can be expected out of Parker. And I think a lot depends on how Gray and Chavez hold up in the second half. Regardless, the current window for the A's is almost certainly going to close (briefly, in all likelihood) after 2015.

At the very least, the A's will look very different in 2016.
