Because that's what he is right now?

I'm not saying there aren't concerns. There definitely are, but his athleticism, subjectively speaking, did not look to be lacking when he came back last year, and the meniscus thing hasn't been a career debilitating thing for most other guys in recent memory (and Rose went with the better long term option repair-wise).

I'd still count on him to be a really good player. Who knows if it's to the level he once was, but by all accounts he's looking great again.

That says it all. We don't know. What we do know is that LeBron James is by far the best player in the world and has dominated the East (his team has made five of the last eight finals). Any team wanting to be the favorite over his team has a pretty high burden--far higher than "who knows[?]"

Because i choose to be optimistic about rose's health. I am choosing to believe that they (either the bulls or rose or the bulls & rose) have approached his injuries with extreme caution. Im also believing in the reports that Rose plays great in practice.

And if you add melo to a group that has improved ((dj, butler (he might be gone in the S&T) taj and noah)) and the other new guys (niko and mcdermott) he doesnt need to be entirely the player he used to be.

How awesome is it that David Blatt, a career basketball, journeyman/grinder/run&gun coach, now finds himself at the helm of a team with Kyrie Irving and LeBron James on the roster and possibly Kevin Love? After decades in Europe and Israel climbing the ranks, this is his reward. Great story. Really looking forward to watching that city and team next year.

Does anyone know what the deal Lebron is signing in Cleveland looks like? Is it max-term, max dollars?

If it's a short term deal might be hard to convince Love to sign a full on extension.

It'll be max dollars for sure, but there haven't been any reports on length. I would guess a four-year deal, as LeBron's grand letter would probably ring hollow if he then signed for only 2 years or something.

I've heard he makes Thibs look warm and cuddly.

@Probballdraft: The Heat will re-sign Dwyane Wade to a max deal, according to a source. No pay cut. Mr. Heat will retire in South Beach. #ClassyOrganization

Hahahaha. Talk about stealing money. Good tanking strategy, though.

For the first time ever he will be the highest paid player on his team, at least I d that. I could see it being a two year deal unlike what Andy said. He may want a chance to redo with a different CBA. If he doesn't care then it will be longer. I wouldn't say either is more likely because who knows what he is thinking.

I'm just glad he left Miami. My biggest fear this off season was that there would be all this hullabaloo and then all the big names would stay put.

I think Melo/Rose/Noah would give LeBron/Love/Kyrie more of a fight than the 2011 Bulls gave the Heat, but in the end I definitely think the Cavs would be the better team. But I really don't see Melo coming to Chicago, in which case I see the Bulls and Pacers fighting for the second best record in the Central Division.

I don't see it either, but it would be in the best interests of Melo to sign in Chicago. Even though the Bulls wouldn't be favorites IMO, there's always injuries that can happen to change the mix a little. It's still a long road ahead, and you would want to be in the best position to capitalize.

Bosh going back to Miami per Woj. 5Y/118M.

With him and Wade, they're still a top 4 team in the East, assuming they fill in the rest of the squad fairly well.

So, Houston traded Lin for no reason now.

Still cleared space, maybe the idea is to let Parsons take Dallas' offer and go after some combo of Deng, Bledsoe, Thomas, Pau or Lance

I might be in the minority, but if Cavs get Love, I like Irving/LeBron/Love more than Wade/LeBron/Bosh. Irving/Love might not be "better" than Wade/Bosh, but they're a better fit with LeBron as far as playing style goes IMO.

Any chance that re-opens a Meloto Rockets scenario?

Can't see how. They didn't move on to Bosh until they knew Melo and Lebron weren't options. My guess is they'll be competing with the Heat for Deng now.

Local espn radio station just simulcasted a show from Miami, and big are those guys delusional. They were talking about how the Heat were going to get their revenge on LeBron in the ECF (lolololol) and how they'd take the current Heat team over the current Cavs team.

I think bosh is just a better player all around player than love. And wade is on another level compared to Irving. The Cavs a very young nucleus and are better in the long view. They also have varajeo who is a great player and waiters is better than Chalmers. And I think they still have money. If they add miller and ray Allen they will be as good as the heat teams perhaps.
