4 runs on 9 hits over 21 innings with two rookie starting pitchers and they're going to be 2-0...

It's almost not fair for them, we should give them an extra pick every couple years high in the draft to even things out.

10 years ago today, the Cubs won Game 4 of the NLCS.

Since that day, the Cubs have won zero playoff games and the Cardinals are about to win their 45th.

The only other teams to not win a playoff game since then:

Toronto

Kansas City

Seattle

Hey, good for them.

I've found much more peace of mind accepting the Cardinals' recent success so long as the Cubs are putting out teams made up of rubber bands and dog poop. When the Cubs are good again then I'll be pissed again.

And this was at a time when we had a ton of young players and an elite farm system, so the future seemed *awesome*.

I hate baseball.

The problem is, everything we have to look forward to, the Cardinals have too. So it's not like we can just count off the days until their window slams shut like the Brewers.

Well, yeah, that's why I said I'll be pissed then; then it'll be a good Cubs team losing to them (not that I think they'll automatically lose to the Cardinals; they're just still going to lose to them a lot based on how many times they face each other and inevitably some of those games will be big games). The Cardinals winning when the Cubs have almost no chance is just a thing.

i was at game 4. i've never seen a sports atmosphere like I did in the tunnels after that game. it was insane. it was a road game and cubs fans wouldn't leave. everyone was 100% positive the cubs had just wrapped up the series. also, i still don't know where that aramis grand slam went.

I'm glad you found peace of mind, but I see limited life-years burning away and seasons like this don't make me feel good about things.

Well, I'm still annoyed about the years of suckage; "peace of mind" means towards the Cardinals winning it in a year like this. It used to drive me nuts, but hey, if my team is garbage when it goes down, so be it. My fury over the Cubs losing out when it actually matters will be much more outrageous.

As for the rest...I'm going to live forever as a sexy cyborg, so creeping death means nothing.

I don't live in Cards country or anything, so there aren't many of their fans to deal with. But the guy who owns/runs my favorite grocery store is one. One time I was looking for a second job, and I applied at the grocery store (it's a health food-type store, and I could use the discount, plus he gives his employees full benefits, even if they're part time). So this guy, who seemed like a nice old dude, says halfway through the interview "so your're a Cubs fan, huh? (I may be the most obvious/visible fan of a team in the whole town, I am constantly adorned in one type of Cubs apparel or another) I'm a die-hard Redbirds fan", to which I replied "well, we all have our faults, I guess." I was clearly joking, but his demeanor changed, and I did not get the job.

Starting that fall, he started wearing an old Cards cap during the playoffs, which I had never seen him do previously. Not only that, but every time he saw me, he'd adjust it/tip it at me, and give me a smirk. Yesterday I went to the store and he tipped a nice new 5150 at me and chuckled.

The moral of the story is [expletive] the [expletive] Cardinals. They can go to [expletive] hell.

What's with all the crowd shots?

I get it the Sawx fans are facking sad their team might get no hit in game 1 of the ALCS

Will they get another pick when they dont sign Beltran this offseason?

More likely, they'll get Beltran back for a 1/14 deal. But yes, if they make a Qualifying offer to Beltran and he signs elsewhere, they'll get a 1st round pick.

Yep. It's so much worse living here when the fans are so obnoxious about it because they have nothing else going on in their lives.

Why do you continue to shop at his store?

They can't watch Hee Haw re-runs anymore?
