That 2010 Cubs draft has already produced one big leaguer in Matt Stites...who didn't sign and was re-drafted in 2011.

Also, two picks round 35 or later in 2010 went in the first round in 2013 (Chris Anderson and Eric Jagielo). And they will surely have better pro careers than Hayden Simpson.

Actually Stites hasn't pitched in the bigs yet, just spring training (same as Jokisch)

not Cubs, but does anybody know what happened to Sickels/how he got a concussion?

his site's a total downer these days

Um.

Finishing the book is the difference between losing my house and keeping it. That is what is at stake here. This is my job, and if I can’t finish it, I lose everything. Literally.

Our apologies for the inconvenience, the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority will be here soon to fix the problem. In the meantime, please return to our home page and consider donating a few bucks so that it doesn't happen again.

Evidently Underwood tweaked his forearm in spring training and is running a bit behind. Maples broke a rib in his upper back and is out 8 weeks. Ugh.

The Iowa Cubs' clubhouse. They've changed it a lot since I was the bat boy in 2006. It's nicer than the clubhouse at Wrigley Field!

maybe we can trick FA into signing to play for Iowa

Board favorite Alberto Cabrera, who wasn't good enough to make the Cubs roster, also wasn't good enough to get claimed by any other team. Cleared waivers, back to Iowa.

Pfft, if 30 MLB teams are so smart, why don't they post here more?

The Cubs have had 18 1st round and Supplemental-1 draft picks since Mark Prior. Those 18 players have accumulated -0.6 bWAR as Cubs.

Extend it to include the first 3 rounds and you have...-1.4 bWAR

When you consider the injuries they had to Hagerty, Clanton, Brownlie, Blasko, Pawelek and Simpson, the guys they traded away (Donaldson/Cashner), the 5 picks from 2011 that haven't progressed to the majors yet and the fact they had a stone age scouting and development system until 2012, that's about right.

Here's to a brighter future...

I love the capitalization of Right Hamstring Soreness.
