Devin Hester: "I don't even know if I want to play again. Man, it's been on my mind for two years now."

Is Devin as emotionally unbalanced as Tommie Harris was? His play the past two years sure indicates he wanted out before.

I'm not surprised but it was kind of telling that Lovie kept going back to the Hester well even when he was killing the team with his worse and worse returns. That loyalty is appreciated by the guy's who are lucky enough to get it.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Devin's confidence is fragile.

Emotional Hester: "I have my workers’ comp papers in my pocket. See how I feel ...."go home and talk to my wife, my family," Hester said. "See where we go from there. I’ve got two beautiful kids, man, young. Two boys. A lot of stress has been on my mind lately."

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST DIFFICULT THING?

DH: "Not being able to showcase my talent the way I want it to be showcased. Stressful."

COULD CHANGE OF SCENERY BE GOOD FOR YOU?

DH: "Who knows. If it’s the right place. If not, I feel like I have done enough in the league where I established myself to be one of the elite players ever to play the game. God blessed me for seven years. The average years of an NFL player is about three. I made some accomplishments on my own, some goals I reached. Some more goals are out there I still felt I could achieve."

So...

If he hasn't been able to showcase his talents under Lovie, shouldn't he welcome a change?

Maybe he's blaming injuries for being unable to perform? Saying that he's been under a lot of stress. How many concussions has he had? Is he afraid of the cumulative effect? That's what I get when he's talking about his kids.

gotcha. Either way, I agree with him that retiring is his best option.

At first glance, I'm hoping for:

Clements

McCoy

Shanahan

Not sure after that.

Let Devin retire, resign Johnny Knox to a minimum deal. Net upgrade

Judging by the stories that have come out in the last month, Knox's football days are over.

The upside is we won't have to see replays of that grotesque injury.

Here is a pointless photo gallery of HC 'candidates' (I use this term loosely because many of those pictured are laughable) per Pompei.

Clements, McCoy, both Grudens, O'Brien, and Shanahan are guys I'd be interested in.

LOL @ the Cowher pic. Does that look like a guy who is ready to come out of retirement?

After thinking about it, I would be on board for Gruden if Emery wants to try his hand at a more established name.

And as long as people are groundlessly speculating about Brian Kelly I don't know why Saban's name wouldn't come up.

Saban is going to want to be the GM as well. I think the Browns are the only fit, if he decides to go back to the NFL.

So....the Shea McClellan pick...can we start thinking the Bears might go to a 3-4 now? Has Emery been planning this overhaul since he started?

Urlacher is being MUCH more sane than Hester.

Says we're all mad and are gonna say things we don't mean. Doesn't wanna play for anybody but Lovie, but still wants to be a Bear too. Sounds like his emotions are all over the place.

@peanuttillman

Lovie Smith is a man of God, integrity, and loyalty and that's how he coached. I had the and honor to work with him for 9 years. Sad day!!!!
