Going after McCoy sounds like the right idea, but I'll play devils advocate on that one somewhat. How much did he really have to do with everything this year? Peyton kind of brings his own show to town anyway......

He had a ton to do with everything last year.

Haha, Devin is pissed that he will never be called a number 1 WR anymore. I'm surprised he didn't just go all the way and throw out the race card or something.

Yes because racism doesn't happen anymore. I know this was hypothetical but I like how people have turned a complaint about racism into an automatic unfounded complaint by an angry black person.

Pretty surprised and pleased to wake up to the news.

Pass on Muschamp and any other college coaches.

Mike McCoy is my second favorite candidate behind Clements.

The players need to grow up. Did they really not see this coming?

And Hester remains a very unintelligent person.

You also have to remember that the reporters are surely bating the players for these comments and are posting ones that will get a reaction. This is their immediate reaction to negative news being caputured here. They are all professionals and will get over it quickly and move on.

Color me surprised. The players reaction is going to be the sucky part of this whole thing. I hate that most of the team is upset and I wish there was a way to make it work with Lovie. But his fatal flaw was the people he surrounded himself with. I think he's a fine head coach...some may adamantly disagree....but the main issuews that he had no clue about 1/2 the game. And he failed to align himself with people who did at the current NFL level. The players are professional they'll get over it. And ultimately it s their fault. The giants hated Coughlin but got 2 rings with him. Who cares if the next guy I'd a players coach...winning will cure all. Lovie didn't win enough.

Lovie will land softly, maybe even HC with one of the other teams. If not, he'll do well as DC and then probably get another HC shot at some point.

It's just an emotional day for everyone @ Halas Hall. It will pass. Lovie was way better than most of the bozos the Bears hire as HC. Just not quite good enough.

True enough.

You are right, that was a little ignorant on my part to stretch it to that. My apologies.

The last part is why it is hard to be too adamant about how "fine" of a head coach he was. I get what you're saying, the Bears could have enjoyed great success under Lovie. He does what he does well, very well. The problem is the parts he struggles with are fatal flaws in today's game. The biggest parts of being a head coach are hiring the right staff and making correct calls on personnel. Lovie was a terrible personnel decision maker and just as bad at hiring offensive staff.

If there was some offensively strong organization with a QB, system and OC already in place, he'd be a great hire. But organizations that have those things already generally aren't looking for outside hires at HC.

There is always a reaction like this when a coach is fired, especially a player's coach.

Yeah, I had a feeling he wasn't gonna be super mad.

Players indicating that Bob Babich and Mike Tice likely gone per Jeff Dickerson.

Say it ain't so!

Lots of tweets saying that nothing is official with assistants though.

He minimized the bad and maximized the good with Tebow, then adjusted to allow the Peyton show to flourish. Not a bad couple years of work.

lol I forgot Bob Babich was still a Bears coach.

He was the guy that I pictured when the other tweet came out about "assistants freaking out".

I am going to assume that all assistants positions will be determined by the next head coach, with the exception of Tice and/or anybody who decides to leave on his own. I'm not sure there's much point in the team making a decision on anybody else, unless they Emery decides to insist on Marinelli staying and being the de facto head coach of the defense.

Bates may not stay either, apparently.

I'd rather a competent coach select his assistants.

Yeah, and ultimately I have no idea what Bates does other than chum it up with Jay and Brandon.

Devin Hester: "I don't even know if I want to play again. Man, it's been on my mind for two years now."

Is Devin as emotionally unbalanced as Tommie Harris was? His play the past two years sure indicates he wanted out before.

I'm not surprised but it was kind of telling that Lovie kept going back to the Hester well even when he was killing the team with his worse and worse returns. That loyalty is appreciated by the guy's who are lucky enough to get it.
