Will they really go with only 2 QBs?

Yes.

They'll call Jordan Palmer if they need a QB.

I would have preferred Onobun over Adams. To me, Adams is the least significant member of the team, a title he has had for a few years now.

Like I said, Onobun is incredibly gifted, but could you really trust him to even block the right the guy? He could get someone killed out there.

JT Thomas and Terrence Tolliver waived.

Corey Brandon and Corvey Irvin we're waived and got injury settlements.

That means Mitchell Boggs made the team, a bit of a surprise. The Bears will have 9 OL.

LT Jermon Bushrod/Jonathan Scott

LG Matt Slauson/James Brown/Eben Britton

C Roberto Garza/Mitchell Boggs

RG Kyle Long/James Brown/Eben Britton

RT Jordan Mills/Eben Britton

Other bubble players who made the team: CB CJ Wilson, DT Zach Minter (both undrafted rookies), DE Cheta Ozougwu, TE Kyle Adams and RB Michael Ford.

Adams has shown an ability to block and will catch an occasional pass. I have no problem having a solid backup as opposed to the high risk high reward reserve.

I would have had to turn close my eyes ever time Onobun came into the game. Maybe the worst football player I've seen.

It just doesn't make sense for them to keep 3. With guys like JT Thomas being cut, it shows you the depth the Bears have now and you need to keep as many guys who can contribute on Special Teams as possible. 3rd QB is a luxury they can't afford right now; those 53 spots are too valuable.

Theo Emery has definitely put his stamp on this team. Before his 2nd season as GM has started, Emery has turned over 32 of the 53 players on the roster, and that number goes up a digit if you count that Zach Bowman was re-acquired after leaving briefly in the 2012 offseason. (Note: all 4 specialists: K, P, LS, KR are Angelo era, so 32-33 of 49 offense/defense).

There are 24 offensive players on the team, only 5 of them remain from the Jerry Angelo era (Cutler, Forte, Garza, E. Bennett, K. Adams). The OL has been completely overhauled, with just 1 remaining member of the 2011 group.

The defense still has 9 starters from the 2011 team (not all started back then). However, all but 2 reserves have been Emery acquisitions (if you include re-getting Bowman). Ironically enough, the only position without Emery's stamp on it is the safety position, a position that had tons of turnover in the Angelo era. Though, Emery did try with Hardin to do the same.

Just thought the roster was interesting. Not saying Emery will make this team into an elite one, but he's definitely going about things in the right way. Keeping the defense in tact, while overhauling the offense. And while the defense does have age at key positions, they are all still playing at a high level, and only 7 of the 25 players on D have even hit 4 years service time.

They're planning on actually protecting Cutler too. Something the previous regime showed an amazing amount of disdain for, and had to pay for it dearly.

The Raiders released Tyler Wilson. Wish we had some room for him.

Bears signed David Bass, 7th round pick who was cut by the Raiders. Bears had interest in the DE pre-draft. Cheta Ozougwu was cut to make room on the 53.

Practice squad is:

Qb- Jerrod Johnson

Rb- Harvey Unga

Wr- Ricardo Lockette

TE- Fendi Onubun

DE- Aston Whiteside

LB- Jerry Franklin

Cb- Demontre Hurst

There is room for 1 more on the squad.

Bears claim David Bass (DE) off waivers from the Raiders

Bears trade a conditional 7th round pick to Dallas for Dante Rosario (TE)

Any idea the roster casualties associated with these moves?

The David Bass stuff is two posts up - Cheta Ozougwu was cut.

I wonder if Adams gets cut with Rosario acquired.

Probably replacing Adams. Don't know a whole lot about Rosario, but he did have a 3 touchdown game for San Diego early last year, IIRC. Or maybe they see multiple two TE sets that require a 4th to keep fresh legs in there. Seems like they won't be wasting a whole lot of time between plays under this new regime.
