@mikecwright: Statement from Marshall's agent Kennard McGuire: Brandon is accustomed to executing and playing at a high level and being the perfectionist

@mikecwright: statement cont: the perfectionist that he is, his expectations of himself are very high. Anything less than elite is unacceptable to him.

@mikecwright: statement cont: As far as him not being there, this has been planned w/the Bears and Brandon long before yesterday.

@mikecwright: statement cont: Any other suggestion, thought or implication are all unfair to Brandon and the Bears organization.

Looks to me like he just went overboard with his performance (or lack thereof) against the Raiders. Probably not thrilled about having to sit on it for two weeks either.

Marshall is getting 4 days off, and the media has been freaking out about it...well...

As a matter of fact, NBC Chicago confirmed Marshall is indeed having a routine followup seven month exam after hip surgery. The Bears, Marshall and his physicians all agreed on this date months ago.

Still, numerous media outlets reported the timing as suspicious, with one national outlet reporting that Marshall was unhappy with the Bears not taking his concerns serious enough.

A schedule seven month follow-up exam does not explain a four day absence and the odd way the Bears handled this.

John Clayton rates the QBs in the NFL. Jay Cutler comes in at 21st, just behind Sam Bradford and just ahead of Christian Ponder. That's a little insane. About Cutler:

21. Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears

Analysis: It's decision time for the Bears. Marc Trestman was hired from the CFL to get the most out of Cutler, who is one of the biggest enigmas in the NFL. Under Mike Shanahan, Cutler was elite, throwing for 4,526 yards in 2008. He hasn't come close to those numbers in Chicago, and now he's entering a contract year. A big season could result in an $18 million-plus-a-year contract.

Arrow is pointing: flat

Huh. Why wasn't cutler as good in Chicago as he was in Denver? (Dodges rusher)

Could it be that he was a system QB? (Scrambles to the right to avoid DT)

Maybe he's distracted by his gf and the Chicago nightlife (flings a pass to some [expletive] WR like Earl Bennett as a MLB dives at him, knocking him to the ground on his throwing shoulder)

Hard to say really

My favorite quote from that article overall (admittedly I only read it because it referred to my team): "Teams need a 50-catch tight end to make the playoffs." Really? Since when?

Why wouldn't Trestman just admit it was a scheduled follow up exam? They probably told him to cool off, get your mind off football, and we'll get a dr to check your hip. Trestman might be handling this well.

3 minutes left and Corey Brandon just probably lost for the year with a knee or broken leg

He wasn't going to make the team, was he?

Nope. 6th and final OT on the roster.

I had the radio on for about 5 minutes after the game and that weird creeper who does overnight for the Score was saying something like "Webb's locker was cleared out."

Are you confusing Grobstein and Schuster?

I think Schuster said that...Grobstein is the weird creeper who does overnight.

Well he was pretty much solely drafted because he knocked out Tice's tooth or something, so...

I'll admit I was wrong as I was willing to go into the season with him as LT because I thought there were too many holes to fill on the line. wtg Emery. Our best two OL heading into the off season are not on NFL rosters (although arguably the worst is on our roster, but oh well).

It was after 10, so I thought it was the overnight guy. Whoever it was at least had his awful lazy psycho voice.

Grobstein is hilarious just for the crowd of callers his show attracts, like the guy who asked him who he'd take between Jordan or Jeremy Lin in their primes, then said "dont like it" when he answered Michael Jordan.

Alright after watching a bit of the game, here's my 53 man roster prediction

WR	Brandon Marshall	Earl Bennett	Joe Anderson
WR	Alshon Jeffery	Marquess Wilson Eric Weems
TE	Martellus Bennett	Steve Maneri	Kyle Adams
QB	Jay Cutler Josh McCown
RB	Matt Forte Michael Bush	Michael Ford
FB	Tony Fiammetta
LT	Jermon Bushrod
LG	Matt Slauson
C	Roberto Garza	Edwin Williams
RG	Kyle Long James Brown
RT	Jordan Mills Eben Britton
LDE	Corey Wootton	Shea McClellin
DT	Henry Melton	Corvey Irvin
NT	Stephen Paea	Nate Collins Zach Minter
RDE	Julius Peppers	Cornelius Washington	Cheta Ozougwu
SLB	James Anderson	J.T. Thomas
MLB	D.J. Williams	Jonathan Bostic
WLB	Lance Briggs	Khaseem Greene
LCB	Tim Jennings	Zack Bowman	Sherrick McManis
RCB	Charles Tillman	Isaiah Frey Demontre Hurst

Whiteside, Boggs, and Franklin all on Practice Squad among others.

Without spending too much time looking, I think Khaseem Greene goes to the practice squad and Costanzo gets the spot because of his special teams prowess.

No listing for Hardin. Is his Bears career over before it ever began? Haven't seen game 4 yet. Did he play poorly?

I don't think Hardin did anything poorly, but I just don't remember him standing out and he was a guy who had to earn it. And if they don't want to give up on him totally they can probably stash him on the PS.

I don't see anyway they expose Greene to try and get him in the practice squad. Castanza's spot is between him and JT Thomas most likely. They could try to keep 7 LB, but it will be at the expense of a 4th FB/TE or maybe a 10th DB or 5th DE.

I'd say the two hardest cuts are Thomas/Costanza and Britten/Scott.

Agrees - Greene won't be exposed for the practice squad. They'd definitely lose him.

I wasn't really listening, but Mully & Hanley were also speculating that Hardin just didn't do enough. "Doesn't deserve to be on the roster."

It's pretty bad when a 3rd round pick can't even make the team. Terrible, wasted pick.
