i could be wrong, but isn't everybody showing this out of context? when it happened live i thought they showed the full thing as him reacting to the ruling on the field and flipping out, and wasn't flipping out at mccarthy.

I thought that at first, but they later showed another view where he clearly saw McCarthy throw the flag and what's-his-face secretly try to pick it up, so I think he thought McCarthy screwed them out of the challenge.

This is going to be fascinating from a personnel perspective. If we hire a guy who wants to go with a 3-4 it's going to require some major changes on D. Do you plan on standing Peppers up? That means he plays with Briggs, Roach and another LB. Could you protect Urlacher in that system? Where does a system guy like Jennings fit in? Melton on the end (can't play NT in a 3-4; too small)?

It's not going to happen. The Bears are looking at offensive coaches. I don't ser an offensive coach bringing in anyone to completely change the D. If it aint broke.....maybe won't be a cover 2 base but will still be a 4-3 team.

I don't think they'll stand up Peppers in a 3-4. McClellin is ideal for that job.

Just for fun. I think a 3-4 Bears D would look like:

DE- Peppers

NT- Paea (I think he played some NT in college)

DE- Melton (if guys like Liuget and Hood can play it Melton surely can)

OLB- McClellin

ILB- Briggs

ILB- Urlacher/Roach (both are FAs though)

OLB- DRAFT?

Secondary would be the same. I guess I could see this if the vets on the D are ok with it. Especially Urlacher and Melton who are FAs and Peppers and Briggs who would have major role changes this late IBM their careers.

One of the most open and honest press conferences from the Bears in a long long time. Not always what fans want to hear, but man is he going into the thinking and assessments of this team I've heard from the organization itself.

All non-Bears fans keep saying, "they aren't going to find a better coach than Lovie Smith". While, that may be true. I don't know that any Bears fan is looking for "better". I think we're just looking for different. While the next Sean Payton would be nice. I think most Bears fans would be happy with an offensive minded version of Lovie. A guy who has clear, obvious flaws but does what he knows very well. After 40 years of defensive guys, it's time for the Bears to keep up with the offensive minded teams in the league.....and those teams for the most part aren't watching the playoffs next week.

Reading twitter for recaps.

- Looks like TE and OL will be huge priorities. I like that it was almost explicitly stated instead of the whole "we like the guys we have" stuff. Called Kellen out on his terribleness.

- He admits 3-4 in unlikely due to personnel.

- Definitely sounds like he's going offensive with this hire. Talks about using Forte and Bennett more (no mention of using Hester more) and the middle of the field specifically.

He talked about going over the middle of the field and giving Jay more targets. Said that in this league, the QB is going to face pressure, and you have to give him somewhere to throw the ball.

Total opposite of Lovie in that regard.
