And Hub is on the radio right now ripping Kyle Long....so yeah, that's about right.

What didn't he like? Hub is still holding a grudge against the Bears for losing his radio color job I think. He has very little positive things to ever say.

Hub hates the Bears draft value in the first round the last 2 drafts. I cant complain about that opinion, since I thought Shea and Long were horrible picks at the Bears slot.

To think we still might not have a first round pick as a full time starter at one position and haven't since 2004 (Tommy Harris) is nauseating.

Well, the reports out of Bourbonais indicate that Shea is playing real fast.

I'm hoping he's got some new tricks in his bag, because he had the one trick pony spin move last year and that was it.

lol, Brad Biggs wrote an article for the Trib about the Bears including read-option...

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0731-bears-chicago-20130731,0,2978879.story

Then a little while ago:

@AdamHoge

Jay Cutler when asked how much read-option is in the offense: "None."

And supposedly Trestman has already refuted Cutler.

I think there will be read option, but I think Trestman will use it to create running lanes for Forte (threat of read option should take a player out of the box) or use it to exploit matchups in the playaction game also serving the purpose of getting Cutler out of the pocket.

Is there an indication that this is something serious? From the couple articles I read, DJ's injury sounded relatively minor -- not something that would affect the regular season. He's a vet, so missing a week or two of camp time isn't going to kill his season.

Three question interview with Phil Emery:

ROBERT KLEMKO: Bottom line—Why fire Lovie Smith?

PHIL EMERY: We were in a position where if he stayed, he would be picking his fifth offensive coordinator. Part of it was because I really believe looking at a team that if you’re going to have success, the most important relationship is between the head coach and the quarterback. I like our quarterback. I think Jay Cutler is very talented. He wants to improve. I know he needed to improve for us to be a championship team. When we were looking at making a change we knew that if we were going to do it we were going to make that the focus point. We had to work from that end.

That doesn't sound like a guy that plans on letting the franchise QB go anywhere to me.

So basically, Mike Tice was getting fired no matter what, and Lovie and Jay didn't have a great relationship.

Yes, but I don't think that means that Lovie and Jay don't get along. Just that Lovie was a defensive guy, and was never going to be a QB whisperer.

I don't think it has as much to do with Lovie/Jay's relationship as it speaks to the theory that Jay was never going to progress with Lovie and whatever OC he brought in next. They probably don't have a great relationship because Lovie is all about defense and is very conservative offensively speaking. But that isn't the issue.

Missing two weeks of camp is a setback for anybody, veteran or not. And when you consider it's a guy who is new to the team and the team is dealing with an overhaul in the defensive leadership, from the coordinator and position coaches down to the captain, I would not scoff at him missing time.

So losing Trestman really messed up the Alouettes....

BREAKING: #Alouettes fire Dan Hawkins as head coach, GM Jim Popp will take over the role.

The Alouettes had a 2-3 record after 5 games.

The offence, which was Montreal’s strength under former coach Marc Trestman, looked disorganized and lifeless under Hawkins, who was coaching a professional team for the first time in his career.

Bushrod out of walking boot, but not practicing. Anderson and Scott sitting out, as are Briggs and DJ Williams. Williams still wearing the boot. Jennings excused for personal reasons for 2nd straight day.

Britton at LT with starters.

Wootton escorted to locker room with trainer. Hasn't return. McClellin getting extra snaps with starters.

Webb and Britton swap spots as practice goes on. Hurry back Bushrod!

I'd guess hiring Dan Hawkins is what messed them up.

No doubt that was a slight factor.

On a seperate note, Cutler was on Waddle and Silvy yesterday for those that like to listen to those.

So basically we've had injuries to both of our lines to start training camp.

Not good.

Yes, but the OL injuries are all minor. Wootton we don't know much about yet.
