A source tells ProFootballTalk.com that Packers LT Bryan Bulaga has a torn ACL in his knee.

Bulaga sustained the season-ending injury in Saturday night's intrasquad scrimmage. After making 33 starts at right tackle over the last three years, he was pegged as Aaron Rodgers' new blindside protector. The Packers will now have to move Marshall Newhouse back to the left side, and perhaps try fourth-round pick David Bakhtiari on the right. Newhouse started every game at left tackle last year, but struggled badly and graded out as ProFootballFocus' No. 54 overall tackle. It's not good news for Rodgers.

Well that certainly makes things a bit more interesting.

Wow. That's huge. I think they are going to miss Jennings, Woodson, and Driver, now throw in Bulaga out....I think they are coming back to the rest of the division.

Yes they will come back to the division, but how many starters and players did they lose the last time they won a Super Bowl? Wasn't it like 20 guys on the roster?

That the players are irrelevant. They will win on the power of the Packers name alone.

They were also a much deeper team back then. And what people don't talk about is they didn't lose anyone of consequence other than Jermichael Finley. Ryan Grant was easily replaceable for a team that didn't run the ball. Nick Barnett they never had that season and he was easily replaced by Bishop. And they lost Burnett, who started, but was a then rookie safety.

Hahaha. Yeah its a whole different season with less depth. This is a huge loss and their past SB win means dick.

The Packers will still win the division easily because they have the best QB in the league no matter who they put out there on the line.

  Rodgers is one hit away from being out for the season. Losing your best lineman at the most important position increases the likelihood of hits

I agree in that the packers will most likely win the division. But to be fair, in the season you referenced, they had to win the last game of the season (one possession game against a bears team with nothing to play for) to scrape into the playoffs. They finished the season 10-6, tied with two other 10-6 teams that were left out. Injuries very easily could have kept them out that year.

To hell with the division, I just want to beat them in a game. [/Lovie]

Seriously though...what has it been, 3 years now since our last win against GB?

Yeah since that Monday night game in 2010 that we pulled out of our asses

I'm guessing VY is there just to give that D a look at the read option before they play Kaepernick and RG3 in weeks 1 and 2. He'll be gone at the bye week (4) if they need the roster spot.

That theory is out there, but:

There has been some suggestion that the Packers are signing Young in part because he can simulate the read-option offense that gave the Packers’ defense so much trouble in the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. But all indications are that the Packers are signing Young to give him a legitimate shot to be Rodgers’ backup.

Of course the team is going to want to give off the impression he's not just a 2 week practice dummy.

But my question is, can VY really pull off a read option impression at this stage?

Why not? He's only 30. Should have fresh legs while not having been away from the game for too long. Not going to do it as well as RG3 or Kap, but if anyone could. ...they wouldn't be only subject to doing it in practice.

Cutler picked off 4 times in practice. Almost all deflections at the line. McClellin had one that was apparently amazing.

The coaches said after practice that the DL are not supposed to bat passes during practice, because the OL isn't allowed to cut them. Apparently they weren't listening to instructions.

So 3 were deflections?

Sounds like 2 to me...the McClellin one was a legit pick on an apparently amazing play by Shea sniffing out a screen, and then one was a miscommunication between Cutler and Marshall that hit Conte in the numbers. And apparently Cutler and Marshall weren't too happy with one another at that moment.

No, there were 3 deflections. One fell harmlessly, Melton picked one off and Frey the other. McClellin and Conte's picks were not tipped; as you said, Shea's sounded impressive.

With Peppers getting the day off, it sounds like McClellin impressed a lot in the pass rush. Frey continues to impress. Marquess Wilson and Joe Anderson are working with the 2s a lot. Also, they've been installing a play where Melton stands up (making more of a 3-4 look) and plays the role of a rover, either blitzing or playing a shallow zone. Interesting having a DT play rover but Melton is incredibly athletic so it works (McClellin and Kyle Moore also roved a bit).

#Bears CB Kelvin Hayden tore left hamstring and will miss entire 2013 season. Needs surgery.

Hopefully Frey is ready to contribute.

It sure sounds like he is, thankfully.

Need McManis to be ready also, along with Bowman. Really makes me wish they drafted a CB instead of a 2nd LB.
