Vikings writer Dan Wiederer (@StribDW) leaving Star Tribune to cover Bears for Chicago Tribune.

Didn't Sean Jensen come from Minny too?

EDIT: Aww...Jensen left the Sun Times. That's too bad...I liked him.

Another bad shotgun snap. 4th of practice. 3 were by backups, just one of the four on Roberto Garza. #Bears

Yes, I found out about Jensen's move this morning on Twitter. Pretty disappointing.

Fwiw, I thought Bushrod gave up more pressure than Webb during the game on Friday. Just watched it last night. On the sack Webb gave up, Bushrod was getting help from the TE (Maneri). He may have been getting the help because he gave up pressures the 2 previous plays. Granted he recovers much better than Webb when he gets beat to get his QB hit....and doesn't get tossed aside like JMarcus.

Hub on the radio. Thinks that if Long and Mills start the opener for the Bears, that the Bears are in trouble.

Isn't Hub some weird, crazy old man?

More or less. He still covers the Bears on the radio all the time, but hates them because they fired him years ago. I'm just always amused by his continued bitterness.

To his credit, given what I've read so far, I can't imagine Mills would be an acceptable starter at RT by the season opener. It's going to take a lot for Long to not be the starter at RG for the season opener.

I have Friday's game on DVR. Still need to watch it.

Yeah, and I believe the concern is that Webb(6'7", 333lbs) had such a huge size advantage on Johnson (6'2", 285lbs), who made the sack.

Apparently, Bushrod (by cracky) took out his frustration in practice yesterday and went beast mode on the DE's.

Jay Cutler show will now be on ESPN Radio at 5pm the day after games.

Makes sense due to W+S moving to the afternoon slot.

It does...just means I'll probably end up listening the day after at work instead of live.

That was Britton on the botched snaps by a backup.

Apparently Jeffery, Frye, Wootton, Paea and Zach Minter were the standouts in practice this morning. Mills was just brutal at RT.

Those first 4 are probably the 4 guys that need to be good for this team to be a championship caliber team.....other than the guys we know will be good, obviously.

Plus Long and Bushrod (unless you are including Bushrod in the "guys we know will be good" category).

Yeah, I was counting Bushrod. Not necessarily, "know he's going to be good", but you know what you will get from him, and it will be good enough to win with.

I actually don't think Long needs to be good. He just needs to not be the disaster that several Bears OGs before him have been. As of right now, that doesn't even look to be in question. I've seen/heard nothing so far that leads me to believe he could be worse than Spencer/Rachal. And with the expected improvement on the left side, that should be good enough for a team that has won a lot of games with worse the last 3 years.

Lance Lewis would have been better than any of these guys at RT wouldn't he? I know he was injured, but wouldn't he have been back by this time? I know he played RG mostly, but I thought he was OK at RT in limited action.

Contrary to popular belief, Webb is much better than Louis. He was much better than Carimi, Williams, Scott, Pace and anyone else who has played OT for the Bears in the Cutler era. Also, Louis has been practicing, but all indications are he's not doing too well. Knee isn't 100% and he's on the 2nd team at RG, for a weak OL.

Yeah, Webb is a better option than Louis at RT.

Mills was just brutal at RT.

That's pretty unfortunate for him. He didn't need to be a pro-bowler, but he did need to avoid [expletive] the bed.

He's just not ready yet, nothing wrong with that from a 5th round rookie.
