Long was with the 1s also. The plan is for both he and Mills to get time with the starters.

Also Jay threw another INT on the first pass of practice.

Haha, didn't take long for Webb to get on Trestman's [expletive] list.

The Bears are using rookie Jordan Mills, a fifth-round pick from Louisiana Tech, with the first unit Sunday afternoon in the first practice since the 24-17 loss at Carolina. Webb is playing with the second team at left tackle.

How many more years do we have to play this game with Webb before they finally realize he has talent but is wildly inconsistent and is bad more often than good? I mean we dump Williams and Carimi, first round picks with bigger cap hits like nothing but Webb gets chance after chance.

He obviously at least has great size and some practice talent if Lovie, Tice, Trestman, etc. all saw him as 1st team at one/most points, but he's just gotta be a terrible film study & effort guy to blow away these chances.

Well this is his last chance. Webb is a FA after this season. And as sad as it is....he really has been much better than Williams or Carimi.

I wonder if it's in his head now.

Should hope not. He's bounced back from terrible 5 INT efforts before and it hasn't gotten in his head. Most likely just growing pains learning the New offense.

yeah i think its more of another new offense thing. and there was lots of stink early in camp about how DL weren't supposed to knock down passes (though now it seems its been changed to they arent supposed to jump to knock down passes so who knows)

Hasn't Jay had INT problems throughout his whole career? This isn't a new phenomenon.

The consistency with which his first passes in practice have been picked during camp is, at least, quite coincidental.

Webb spent the practice at left tackle with the second team while Eben Britton worked at right tackle with the No. 2s.

Bushrod better stay healthy.

RT appears to be a bit of a mess. Mills isn't ready, Webb is Webb and Britton is worse than Webb.

Apparently Long had a good practice, which is nice. Slausen appears to be the backup C, not Williams. Someone in here predicted that this offseason - good call. Garza was brutal yesterday in camp.

Why don't they try James Brown there?

Wasn't he the one who was viewed as a 2nd or 3rd rounder last year by Kiper (IIRC) but went undrafted for whatever reason?

Brown at C? Not sure he's ever played there and Slausen clearly has experience. (Yeah, Brown was the mid-round talent who fell in the 2012 draft, probably for off field issues.)

Might be better to play Slausen at C and have Brown and Long at G. But I think Garza is done.

No, Brown at RT. My bad.

That or maybe Long at RT and Brown at RG. Isn't Long viewed as a guy who could play tackle in the long run anyway?

Three botched shotgun snaps so far in practice today. No further explanation on whose fault it was.

I think Long might be a better option but you don't really want a rookie with his limited college experience doing that. In the end, I think Webb *should* be acceptable, like last season. Hopefully Long can be good at G and shift to T next season.

If we get rid of Garza, who can we count on for all the false starts?

There is a NY Post headline dying to coming out of this tweet.

Excited to start my new job today covering the #NFL for @BleacherReport. Will be posting Xs & Os analysis, columns and videos this season.

I can't tell if it's a bad joke or he's still incapable of telling the difference.

I was excited first, and misread it as BleacherNation myself. I really enjoy Bowen's Xs and Os, but I can't stand BleacherReport. I hate slideshows!

Just for David, Long did some one-on-one drills at RT but moved back to RG for the team drills.
