not surprised that he is a d*ck and frankly don't care

he was able to describe a ball game in a clear, knowledgeable way. I had at least one "ooooh, that's why" moments with Stone every week or 2. He took the time to explain.

He's more of a meatball actually. He's great at saying meatbally things and calling for a slider low and away on two strike counts.

i agree, it's amazing how much my opinion on steve stone changed based on nothing more than my age. i also liked chip caray quite a bit in the late 90's when i was in middle school.

i appreciate len, even though he is kind of boring at times.

am I the only guy who really liked stone? Guess so.

I loved him when I was a kid. Then I realized what he was all about after I grew up.

Same with me.

Thirded.

Yep. When I was a teenage I loved him and Thom Brennamen as a team (Bow Tie Tuesdays anyone?). I thought their banter was pointed and funny. Now he comes across as more snobby and elitist.

Brennamen is even worse than Stone. I'd rather listen to Joe Buck call a bullriding competition.

Who are the better color men? I usually find color guys to be insufferable.

Just from watching MLB Network, I like:

Mike Krukow - Giants

Jim Palmer - O's

Bert Blyleven - Twins

Jim DeSchaies - Astros

Ray Fosse - A's

Rod Allen - Tigers

Mark Grant - Padres (My Fav broadcast team in general, love Enberg too)

Jerry Remy is solid as well.

Another guy who hasn't been given an opportunity, but I'd give the nod to is Matt Stairs. He's done postgames on NESN for about half the season and does a good job of being fair with the players and doesn't really hold much back. The only problem there is that he looks to be at the top of the list for the Phillies hitting coach position.

Cubs analyst Bob Brenly has informed WGN-TV he will not return to the team’s broadcast booth in 2013, and instead will seek another baseball broadcasting position.

"Working here in Chicago was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my professional career.

The Ricketts family, everyone associated with the Cubs and WGN and, most importantly, Cubs’ fans everywhere, will always be in our hearts, and Joan and I wish nothing but the best for the organization moving forward.

I was very blessed to have the best play-by-play man in the game as my partner for eight years and Cubs’ fans are very fortunate to have Len Kasper as the voice of the Cubs. I’ll miss working with him and we look fondly toward returning to Chicago in the future."

This makes me sad. I'll miss him for sure. Though I do think Len could carry a broadcast even with a weak partner.

I would imagine Kerry will get asked? The travel and time away from home would probably turn him off though.

Please don't be Mark Grace. Please don't be Mark Grace. Please don't be Mark Grace.

Maybe if it's him, Len will snap and impale him on the Southwest Airlines plane view camera. I mean, yeah, we'll lose Len, but at least Mark Grace would be dead.

I have an irrational appreciation for Rick Sutcliff. I don't know why, and I don't listen to enough of his ESPN broadcasts to know whether he's a meatball or open minded in the realm of advanced metrics, but I dig his style.

Speaking of ESPN, former Cub, Doug Glanville, also works there. I thought I remembered hearing he's a pretty big stats guy.

WGN is set to announce that Brenly is gone.

Time to get serious about a replacement. I heard Nomar might get a look if he gets out of his ESPN contract.

Nomar is terrible in the booth. I like him, but he's bad.
