Speaking of ESPN, former Cub, Doug Glanville, also works there. I thought I remembered hearing he's a pretty big stats guy.

I could get on board with that, though he's mostly an analysis guy on there, not sure how his broadcasting skills are

That's an intriguing possibility. He's definitely a forward thinker, but I have no idea how he is in a booth.

Bring back Joe Carter!

But seriously, Glanville is intriguing. Some other names they could possible consider include Karros and Millar (unfortunately).

They could also take the same approach as the 7th inning stretch, with a new celebrity announcer for each game.

He's got a weird speech impediment.

Please don't be Mark Grace. Please don't be Mark Grace. Please don't be Mark Grace.

Maybe if it's him, Len will snap and impale him on the Southwest Airlines plane view camera. I mean, yeah, we'll lose Len, but at least Mark Grace would be dead.

I doubt we'd lose Len, it would be justified.

I think it's going to be stone

I highly doubt that. And for Len's sake, I really hope not.

Oh, that would be brutal.

They need to get rid of that at the 7th inning stretch.

A lot of fans I know are already calling for him, but I can't see it. He's a train wreck at this point.

Personally I would enjoy Mark Grace in the booth, but that would be a potential PR nightmare.

I think the chances they'd hire him, considering he was just fired because of legal troubles and the fact he can't control his drinking, are just about nil.

I don't think the Cubs would want Grace from a PR standpoint. Two DUI's is a big reason why he didn't get renewed in Arizona.

Any chance Steve Stone comes back, or is his contract with the Sox still going? Lou Piniella?

Disappointing news. I hope they take care to hire a competent analyst - the Joe Carter days are all too fresh even yet, and MLB is full of horrible on-air "talent." Kasper and Brenly were terrific.

Agreed. We're not the Cardinals.
