Preller will not rest until he can have 10 right handed hitters in the game at once. It will be his legacy.

all i really remember as far as my impressions of it was that i was making fun of their OF defense

now they're toying with the idea of playing Middlebrooks at short & Yonder Alonso at 3rd...

lol, that reminds me of when the Reds played Alonso at positions other than 1B. I want to say Campana got his only MLB homer because Alonso was kicking the ball around in LF.

For all the attention Kershaw/Greinke are getting.... Arrieta has an ERA .01 higher than Kershaw (2.52 v. 2.51) and this is after Kershaw has thrown 3 straight CG SHO. Kershaw does have better FIP/xFIP, Arrieta and Greinke essentially have the same FIP and Arrieta has a better xFIP than him. Kinda nuts Arrieta hasn't gotten much, if any, national attention since he came back last year as he's been arguably the 2nd best pitcher in the NL behind Kershaw and top 5 pitcher in all of baseball.

The White Sox being bad, but not historically bad, to reflect how historically bad their position players are, pisses me off

I demand their record reflect how god awful they are. 8 games under is not bad enough. I need blood

He's not even better than Samardzija!

It should be noted that the A's actually clinched their division the night before so likely only put that lineup out because everyone else was hungover.

So basically the Mets are the only team to do it while actually trying to win a game.

The top three NL rookies in WAR (exact order depends on fWAR and bWAR) are Kris Bryant, Joc Pederson and Matt Duffy. Didn't see that third name being atop the leaderboard coming into the year.

Matt Duffy didn't hit a homerun in his college career (over 500 AB's). Bryant had 31 his Junior season alone. Duffy has only 4 fewer homers in the majors this season. That's kind of...annoying.

Looking more at Duffy's numbers, he had a .594 OPS in his college career! Then something clicked for him in the minor leagues.

The Blue Jays typical starters by OPS

.890 (Donaldson)

.868 (Bautista)

.863 (Colabello)

.844 (Travis)

.818 (Tulowitzki)

.817 (Martin)

.786 (Smoak)

.784 (Encarnacion)

.700 (Pillar)

Actually I could be off in on a name or two. Valencia (.849 OPS) is starting quite a bit..

Anyways compare that to the Cubs

.894 (Rizzo)

.811 (Bryant)

.771 (Coughlan)

.729 (Montero)

.700 (Fowler)

.695 (Soler)

.665 (Russell)

.575 (Castro)

Pitching prospect Kyle Crick of the Giants has this line on the season:

51.1 IP

39 H

2 HR

54 BB

6 HBP

54 K

2.98 ERA

The nuts part is that I'd totally be into him as a Cubs prospect. Healthy, more pedigree than most, big, and a power arm check most of the boxes for a RHP prospect in my eyes.

He reminds me a little bit of Kerry Wood, who we had Prior to Theo.

Speaking of OPS fun, Pablo Sandoval has a .677 OPS so far in the first season of his 5 year, 95 million contract.
