If that is true, I wasn't really expecting that, but then again I wasn't expecting Taj Gibson when he was drafted either.

There are some good things written about him online, especially his defense and potentially 3 point shooting.

He's a terrible shooter.

I read he shot 38% from 3 the last 2 seasons? I know that doesn't translate to a great average in the NBA but its certainly not terrible.

Check his stats in the tourney and conference.

Thibs just said on Waddle and Silvy that he doesn't think Deng will need surgery and will be ready opening night. wtf?

Yeah, that's been what I've been hearing the last couple days too.

that makes no sense... how the hell will the ligament heal if it isn't put back together? it was deemed to be severe enough to require surgery months ago.

Not having the surgery just boggles my mind.

Who ultimately makes the decision?

Ultimately, I would think the player. Guess the team could try and get money back for breach of contract if he would go on to miss time/not perform due to the injury, but that likely wouldn't go anywhere due to the whole guaranteed contract thing and whatnot.

That sucks...I could be wrong, but I don't think its the kind of injury that's just going to heal overtime. Which if true means we get another season of 30% FG shooting, no driving Deng.

@dmorey: Meeting w/Omer Asik in a few minutes. Tell him how much you want him in Houston! He will see your msg - include #Asik2Houston

@KCJHoop Hearing Rockets prepared to offer Omer Asik in the $8 million range annually. trib.in/LNlL23

ugh, we better get something back. I'm getting kind of nervous that the Bulls FO is going to match Omer and deal Noah. That would be awful.

meh. it always felt like it was between asik and gibson. gibson is more important.

Agree. I just wish we could have gotten something for Asik. We should have been able to get a (probably heavily protected) 1st rounder for him. You had to have known someone was going to give him big money. 7 footers that don't suck are very valuable, and now we're gonna lose ours for nothing.

Who cares. Without a chance to sign Howard, this team is sunk in the short term and won't sniff a title until Derrick can woo over a big time #2 to aid in leading this team to a title. Asik isn't the problem. We need offensive firepower.

Houston, you have an Omer.

Adrian Wojnarowski‏ @WojYahooNBA

Rockets have reached agreement with Omer Asik on a three-year, $25.1 million contract, league source tells Y! Sports.

KC Johnson says that if the Bulls match, Boozer would be amnestied before the '14-'15 season because of the ridiculous $15M figure in year 3 of that deal.

Surely, we won't match that, right? It'd be nice to turn it into a S&T, get something out of it.

How likely is that (I know little to nothing about how S&Ts come about)?

we could act like we're going to match and see if Houston wants him badly enough to come off something for him. We could also go to Houston and say let us trade him to you and you can change the way you've got the money distributed. I highly doubt it's ideal for Houston to have that 3rd year stupidly high either. I'm not totally positive, but I think these are scenarios for a S&T anyway.
