I also don't see a way out right now.

Wait until 2014.

they better be laying that foundation NOW. The Heat crap started a few years before it happened. If we're going to try, we better have a ringleader out there recruiting. Too bad Rose is a damn mute.

Rose needs to assist in the wooing of free agents. Maybe 2-3 more years of losing will speed up that thought process?

Anyways barring a trade, I'm throwing dirt on the 2013 bulls.

Or maybe Rose will leave after 2-3 more years of losing.

The Bulls have been "losing"?

Uh, yeah, dude; if you're not winning it all you might as well be in last place. DUDE.

If you ain't first, you're last.

Ok yeah the bulls have been winning. My bad. Meet me in the cubs forum where I'll post about how the cubs are winning too.

This post makes less than zero sense.

Lets get back on point here:

The Bulls are a safe bet to win between 52-57 games each year as presently constructed. I also think they are a safe bet to lose in the EC Semi's or EC Final each year.

Is there any way around this fate?

For 2012-2013, I doubt it.

The Bulls haven't won in over a decade and the Cubs aren't going to win anytime soon. It's not that hard to figure out.

Perhaps Nuts definition of winning is making it the playoffs and miserably failing, or coming close every single game yet still losing the series?

My definition of winning is making it to the Finals and ultimately winning. Hell I'd be happy about just making it TO the Finals. The Bulls have stood pat last off season and they look to be standing pat this off-season for the most part. That is unacceptable.

Not unless they make an honest effort to revamp their lineup. Nobody knows when Derrick will come back and supposedly Deng all of a sudden doesn't need surgery. So who knows how he will bounce back from last year. 12-13 is a lost year and if they're going to concede that, I'd rather tank it then sign garbage like Fisher. Maybe even try to get some young players to develop.

The team has had the best winning percentage in the league for two years running. For you to call that losing is ridiculous. You may have your own definition of winning, but it's still nonsensical.

Standing pat this past offseason wasn't why the Bulls "lost". It was because of injuries.

they won a ton of games this year and lost their best player in the first round to a terrible knee injury. you think the heat make it out of the first round if lebron goes down? The year before that they got beat by a better team in the ECF.

insinuating that they aren't winning makes me question whether you live on earth or are posting from the surface of the moon.

Comparing the Bulls and Cubs is ridiculous. The Bulls have won 6 titles in our lifetime. The Cubs have won 0 titles in my grandparents' lifetime. The Bulls have won a ton of games in the regular season over the last few years and made it deep into the playoffs as recently as 2011. The Cubs have lost a ton of games in the regular season over the last few years and haven't made it deep into the playoffs since 2003 :( . The Bulls need to retool. The Cubs need to rebuild.

Liar.

With a ridiculous attitude like this, where being the GD #1 seed is considered losing, there is no way you would be happy about just making it to the finals.

They key phrase is "better team." It was doubted by the most professional of opinions that the Bulls could even beat the heat in an ECF scenario. The Bulls success last year was hinging on Rip and Rose being able to stay healthy because they were hurt many times during the season. They weren't a clear favorite, so sitting here and blaming everything due to Rose being hurt is silly. Even if he wasn't hurt you're assuming he'll come in after said injuries and play at MVP caliber. As we saw, the Heat were a better team their second time around and the jury was out on the Bulls being better then the previous year.

I can think of a way they don't lose in the EC Semis or Finals

The Heat went to 7 games in the ECF against the freaking Celtics and nearly lost. Nobody knows what would've happened if the Bulls had been healthy. Neither you or "the most professional of opinions", whatever that means.

So if the Bulls make the 7th or 8th seed this year and are swept out of the first round, is it a successful winning season?

Having an All Star point guard did dick for them 2 years ago in the ECF because he was their only offensive option.

The next season is what it is due to injuries, not due to a poorly constructed team.

HAVING AN ALL-STAR POINT GUARD MADE THEM A FANTASTIC TEAM. Holy Christ, how can you have such a narrow view of all this? "Welp, if they don't make it to the Finals everything is a failure and doesn't matter." What the [expletive] is that?

We aren't talking about mythical scenarios you're making up. We're talking about two seasons of the best record in the league that you say are "losing". They're not...either technically or by any sane objective measure.

Yes lets ignore Bosh's injury. The Heat took a major injury to a weak spot on their team and won the ECF despite the adversity. They didn't even use a true center.
