This whole situation just makes me sick. Are we really questioning Jay's toughness? Trent Dilfer said something along the lines of "I'm not questioning his toughness, but how come we didn't see him arguing with the training staff?"

What a load of [expletive].

I didn't realize dilfer had a camera locked on cutler to document his every move behind the scenes. Or maybe he's suggesting they reenact the argument for the tv cameras v

Yeah, so he can be a spoiled brat who doesn't respect his coaches and goes against the wishes of his team?

They're always looking for ways to take shots on him. Fans were literally burning his jersey outside of Soldier. [expletive].

Dilfer has been riding Jay constantly this season. I'm really sick of all the armchair psychoanalysis of Cutler. He might not be perfect, but he's easily the best Bears QB of my lifetime. That's all I give a damn about.

Posted
Yeah, I can't take anything Dilfer says about Cutler seriously.
Posted

The thing is, it's not just Dilfer.

Schlereth is always bitching about him, Buck is always mentioning his "killer picks" (while simultaneous praising guys who threw for more INTs this season)... it's just so god damned annoying.

Even if we won the SB this year the media would still be on Cutler's ass.

Posted
I think you're right about the media but you picked a couple of bad examples (Schlereth is a huge Broncos homer so it's not surprising that he hates Cutler and Joe Buck just does not like Chicago).

Mike Wilbon - also a moron.

I'm not even going to listen. There going to be a lot of idiocy spouted over the next couple weeks, and I'm going to try and avoid hearing as much of it as possible. No talk radio/TV for at least 10 days.

Enough time for people to calm the [expletive] down and think.

Apparently Clay Matthews made some comment about how they made Cutler quit. Idiot.

Also, Cutler apparently cried during his postgame interview? I didn't see it.

In case people didnt click on the SI link posted earlier:

Cutler appeared genuinely hurt when asked about the comments, saying: "No comment on that." He then turned his back to reporters, fiddled with some things on a shelf and bit his lip as tears welled.

[expletive] I hate Bears fans. Unbelievable.

Clay Matthews said nothing of the sort. What was his full quote?

hey, it says "apparently," which means it doesn't really have to be true.

Seems like the issue everyone is having is that they didn't "see" the injury. They didn't "see" him arguing with the coaches to get back in. They didn't "see" him getting iced up by trainers. And they did "see" him standing on the sidelines.

I guess I can see the point. He didn't get carted off the field like Carson Palmer. He wasn't flipping out on the sidelines like Vince Young. He wasn't getting worked on like Philip Rivers. He didn't stay in the lockerroom and cry like a girl.

But seriously? Saying he quit is completely ignorant. IF you recall, this is the same guy that got a concussion somewhere midway thru the 1st half vs. the Giants game. He continued to finish out the half and nobody "saw" which sack gave him the head injury. Yet, it was clearly a serious head injury. It has been said that he hurt his knee on the drive coming out of his own endzone, yet he played a few more series, left the 1st half early and still came out in the 2nd half for a series. Why he continues to NOT get the benefit of the doubt, I will never know.

it'd be tragic if cutler gets run out of town for this crap.

There would be a lot of words I would use for that situation in place of tragic. It's not going to happen though.

Here was the quote I heard about, wishing that Cutler had stayed in there...

''I kind of wish we would have had Jay in there the whole time the way things were going,'' Matthews said. ''When you've got a new quarterback you feel like you can turn it loose a little bit more and bring more pressure which we were able to do with 10 [Todd Collins] in there.

''Obviously 12 [Hanie] really game-planned us because he did a heckuva job. He was moving around, a little more mobile in the pocket and presented a new threat similar to the [Kevin] Kolb-Michael Vick-type deal.''

It was taken by some as a shot at Jay, but I don't think it was meant that way. I think it was just meant that they knew what to do with Jay. They had a familiarity with him.

The Cutler nonsense is ridiculousness I'm not going to dignify with thought. He was hurt, he had to go out.

My mom can play better QB than Todd Collins.

Hanie was impressive, but that had as much to do with the Packers not knowing a thing about him as anything else.

Our receivers are not good. Knox completely gave up on the pass that got picked from Jay. He didn't fight for it at all. He's done that all freaking year. I really hope we go WR in the first round of the draft. After all this "Jay Quit" nonsense, I'm afraid we're gonna have trouble getting a big FA WR in here.

5 passes to WR's for the Bears in that game. Forte was targeted 15 times. That's not a Super Bowl offense.

I want to think we have a good core for next year, but I remember thinking that after the SB run.

There was actually some decent non-Cutler Bears talk going on 670 this morning.

I couldn't resist :)

But....it was good to hear. They talked about Knox's inability/unwillingness to turn defender on throws. Hampton really thought the Bears should have taken the ball instead of deferring.

There was also talk of letting Lovie ride out his contract and not giving him an extension.

I was thankful it wasn't all about this Cutler stuff.

I didn't hear the conversation, but I couldn't agree more. It was so important for the Bears to get off early. As it was, they were behind before Cutler ever took the field.

I didn't know who had won the coin toss...I assumed GB did.

Deferring is a non-issue. I would probably defer 9 times out of 10, especially when I have a strong defensive team.

But we were playing one of the hottest (the hottest?) offense in the NFL. Giving them the ball first is a mistake, imo. I'm not saying it was the reason they lost by any means, but it was something I'd have done differently.

Congratulations to the Bears on a good season and for nearly pulling out the win despite the injury to Cutler. I honestly thought they were going to tie it on that final drive. The Bears are going to be a force to be reckoned with for quite some time, and I wouldn't at all be shocked to see them back in the NFC Championship Game next year.

This is all you had to say. If you would have stuck to this, you wouldn't have had personal attacks in response. You had to be a dick about it though. Don't feign surprise, you know why you came in here and you knew what the response would be.

I'm torn on it. I can see the advantage of putting your defense on the field first, because the Bears defense has been very good this year. If we get that 3-and-out, it really sets up well for us afterwards.

On the other hand, if you put your offense on the field first and they go 3-and-out, then you just blew the coin toss win in the space of a few minutes.

I can see the other side of it, too.

Mostly, I think it's a more worthy discussion point than Cutler :)
