Biggs apparently thinks if the Packers didn't have Starks, they'd have no running game. Which is pretty ridiculous IMO.

They have Starks and have no running game. Or are we now counting 1 good game as the gospel?

Well he had a good game against the Niners too. Then for whatever reason, he fell out of favor with McCarthy and was on the inactive list for the next couple of weeks before suiting up against the Bears.

He's easily the most impressive back that we've seen this season. Of course, that's not really an indicator of how he really measures up in the league but more of an indictment as to how bad our other RB's are.

18 carries for 73 yards. Barely 4 yards per carry. Granted, it's better than their season average, but hardly a monumental game.

When you've seen Fraction Jackson as the featured back for most of the season, you'll gladly take 18 for 73.

What I was getting at is that Starks isn't really a special player. If it hadn't been him, the Packers might very well have found another similar guy.

It bothers me a bit that Biggs framed the article by saying "imagine the Packers without a running game" -- and then the suggestion was if Starks hadn't been screwed up by the Bears, the Packers wouldn't have had anyone. That logic doesn't follow at all.

On Bill Simmons podcast from Monday he started the taping really bagging on the Bears. At one point he said that Tampa Bay was definitely better than the Bears. Then a couple of different "experts" like Mike Lombardi and another guy whose name I can't remember went on and really pumped up the Bears today and he seemed to be taken aback by their support of Chicago. I'm surprised Jersey didn't already say something about that lol.

Amen. I'm amazed how many NFL experts think that the Pack have a running game based on that one game.

I didn't finish listening until yesterday afternoon. Simmons is completely schizo with the Bears. He hated them early in the season, thought he'd found a sleeper after the hot start, started relishing the opportunity to bet against them in the playoffs by midseason, listed them as one of the best teams, then decided they sucked again except for a brief period of time where he thought they were legit. And now he thinks they suck again. He's blind to the actual weakness of the NFC South and Tampa's major flaws. He epitomizes the 30,000 foot view of the Bears that most people have and have had since the summer.

The other guy was Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders. He said Seattle had about a 25% chance of winning last week, and less than 10% this week.

You can buy corner 400 level seats on StubHub for pretty much what you'd have to pay on Ticketmaster.

I think there are also a few singles on Ticketmaster.

Nice article, thanks.

I think he wanted to rank Taylor lower, but just didn't for some reason. The comments didn't match the rank...

Yeah not a high demand at all. Everyone is assuming we move on to next week and hoping its at Soldier Field against GB. Hope the team doesn't have the same feelings about the game.

Little rough on Chris Harris I thought. But accurate description. I wish his instincts would rub off on Manning, who has all the physical ability. I'm interested to see how Major Wright develops. He also looks more like a hitter than a ballhawk, but does have a couple steps on Harris in speed also.

I'm interested in Wright too, but I'm feeling like his most likely outcome will be as an often injured safety. I'm basing that on the fact that he does hit hard, and he's been injured alot in his first year. I'm not sold that his body will hold up to his style of play.

Hopefully I'm wrong and he develops. He could be a real find for us if so.

Safety has been a weakness for so long...it's been nice this season not having to beat those guys up after each and every game.

executives in personnel from each of the four NFC North Division teams were asked by the Journal Sentinel’s Bob McGinn to rank the top three players in the division at each position.

Due in part to excellent placement, Gould had 16 touchbacks, 13 more than anyone else in the division.

I'm trying to figure what they meant "excellent placement".

Good question. Maybe he's not sending them through the end zone but right inside the goal line? Or he's doing a good job putting it to side where coverage is concentrated? Weird way of phrasing that one though.

Either they meant Maynard, or it means "in the end zone."

Excellent placement sounds like to me he either kicks it toward the sideline and it goes out of bounds thru the side of the endzone or that he angles it and the ball bounces away from the returner far enough that he has to field it 5 yards deep and can't get momentum to run it out.

Frankly, I haven't noticed any of those things and can't believe his touchback numbers are that good.

The number of kicks going into the end zone is certainly up.

I don't know about placement, but it seemed very clear to me that the distance increased significantly.

Nice link, sneaky.

I laughed at the comments on Forte last year and Manamaleuna this season. Way to show up in shape.

As bad as Taylor and Manu have been, I still don't see them being cut as the Bears still have some holes to fill. Unless they think two guys who got a combined 0 plays this year, Bell and Unga (respectively) can fill those 2 spots, I think both of those guys are back next year.

Anybody can fill backup RB, especially at the success rate of Taylor.
