Bears' passing game oddity:

Reciever targets:

Johnny Knox - 100

Devin Hester - 73

Earl Bennett - 70

Matt Forte - 70

Greg Olsen - 70

They spread it around remarkably evenly.

Of course the media is going to hate a guy who prefers keeping to himself and out of the spotlight. I don't blame him one damn bit though. It's not easy being a celebrity and he obviously has his own way of handling it.

Why are people so obsessed with eye contact anyway? Just because he looks elsewhere during a conversation doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't give a damn. Some people are simply weirded out by eye contact, especially by people they don't know.

I think its cool to have a moody QB that doesn't give a crap what people think of him. I've always hated pretty boy all-everything QBs. Cutler seems more relatable in a way.

But that moody QB better be pretty good or he ceases to be relateable and ends up being a turd.

I keep wanting to read about and discuss this game but then when I pull up some articles, I can't read them. I just get a headache because I've been reading too much about it and just want it to be Sunday. The storylines are all set and have been discussed ad nauseum all week. Heck, I am going to Florida tomorrow and I'm thing I'm most looking forward to then is watching the game inside at the condo we're staying at.

UMFan is following Jersey Boys on its nation wide tour.

I did a search for my user name the other day because I'm just like that and like 75% of the uses of my name over the last 3-4 were you making that same joke. You've gotten a lot of mileage out of that one ;)

Last week, Eric Allen was the only "expert" on ESPN.com to pick the Seahawks over the Saints. This week he's the only one on the site to pick Seattle over the Bears.

Reilly uses this as an example of Cutler being a prick, but I love it.....

Reporter (after a game): What happened on that first interception, Jay?

Cutler: I threw the ball.

Reporter: Right, but what did you see developing there? Take us through it.

Cutler (archly): It seemed like a good place to throw the ball.

Again, reporters don't like him because he won't play their games.

Personally, I find no problem with how he acts.

And even if I did, it doesn't matter. Win me games, thanks. That's it. Be a jerk all you want, but post wins for Chicago.

On Bill Simmons podcast from Monday he started the taping really bagging on the Bears. At one point he said that Tampa Bay was definitely better than the Bears. Then a couple of different "experts" like Mike Lombardi and another guy whose name I can't remember went on and really pumped up the Bears today and he seemed to be taken aback by their support of Chicago. I'm surprised Jersey didn't already say something about that lol.

Simmons picked against the Bears.

Basically he doesn't trust Cutler, and is buying into the Seahawks "rah rah" stuff.

Agreed. Cutler is a bad-ass. He's a douche in a good way

He's our douche

I don't even think it makes sense to use douche to describe him. A douche is typically somebody who aggressively acts like an A hole. Rivers, or people from the Jersey Shore. Cutler is indifferent. He's not out selling himself or an image. He's not imposing himself on anybody. He just doens't give a crap.

well, last week everyone wore their Seahawk attire to work. there seemed to be a lot of energy about being in the playoffs. this week, next to zero. nobody wearing anything, so far. I guess that has a lot to do with a home playoff game, but hopefully that lack of energy is permeating the team as well.

but of course I wore my Payton jersey. comon people

the media seems to think jay cutler is a prick because he's a prick to the media. these are not the same thing.

in fact being a prick to the media is something i applaud because they make up stuff, poke into peoples lives, and are a general nuisance. go jay.

To be fair, Jay does have some ugly @ss body language. I'm a huge Cutler fan, and I cringe when I see him coming off the field after an INT or 3rd down sack with his helmet half off his head with that goofy "oh well, it wasn't my fault" look.

Obviously, it's well overblown and amounts to nothing as Jay's teammates like him and he never has come close to throwing his teammates (who are all less talented than him to a man) under the bus. But the media sees that and interprets he's a douche even to his teammates. Throw in the stuff with McDaniels in Denver and the media probably has every right to think he is a prick.

Except the McDaniels stuff was clearly McDaniels fault. Everything about his tenure in Denver screamed he was in over his head and incapable of dealing with others. He tried to replace his franchise QB before meeting him and then people were surprised that Cutler was pissed at him and didn't trust him? No QB is going to take that lightly. The body language is questionable, but I don't see a "not my fault" aspect to it, more like, "oh well, just have to try again later".

Clearly McDaniels was at fault in Denver, but Cutler could have handled it better. And the fact that there was a rift just fuels the fire that Cutler is a prick. The media can (and did) look at it as Cutler didn't have to make 2 wrongs by wanting out and working it out as a young QB with his new young coach.
