To be fair, Jay does have some ugly @ss body language. I'm a huge Cutler fan, and I cringe when I see him coming off the field after an INT or 3rd down sack with his helmet half off his head with that goofy "oh well, it wasn't my fault" look.

Obviously, it's well overblown and amounts to nothing as Jay's teammates like him and he never has come close to throwing his teammates (who are all less talented than him to a man) under the bus. But the media sees that and interprets he's a douche even to his teammates. Throw in the stuff with McDaniels in Denver and the media probably has every right to think he is a prick.

Except the McDaniels stuff was clearly McDaniels fault. Everything about his tenure in Denver screamed he was in over his head and incapable of dealing with others. He tried to replace his franchise QB before meeting him and then people were surprised that Cutler was pissed at him and didn't trust him? No QB is going to take that lightly. The body language is questionable, but I don't see a "not my fault" aspect to it, more like, "oh well, just have to try again later".

Clearly McDaniels was at fault in Denver, but Cutler could have handled it better. And the fact that there was a rift just fuels the fire that Cutler is a prick. The media can (and did) look at it as Cutler didn't have to make 2 wrongs by wanting out and working it out as a young QB with his new young coach.

f-that. Culter handles it better = not in Bears uniform. besides, as hell bent as MickieD was to get rid of Cutler, he would have sooner or later.

well, last week everyone wore their Seahawk attire to work. there seemed to be a lot of energy about being in the playoffs. this week, next to zero. nobody wearing anything, so far. I guess that has a lot to do with a home playoff game, but hopefully that lack of energy is permeating the team as well.

but of course I wore my Payton jersey. comon people

they probably don't know who walter payton was.

screw em then

He took the opportunity to get off a sinking ship in a city that would never accept anything but Elway II to go to a team 2 years off a Super Bowl run with an actual defense. I don't see why that makes him a dick. Hell, it's absolutely no worse that what Elway did, or what Eli did, or what several other pro athletes have done to get out of bad situations.

Agreed. I don't think it makes him a prick. You don't think it makes him a prick. But it's understandable that a guy that's looking for an excuse to dislike him because he won't engage him in a conversation would use this and the other situations as a reason to think he is a prick.

I'm sorry, but I don't find it to be understandable when someone looks for an excuse to dislike someone, when the reality is he's just butthurt because the guy won't give him the copy that he wants.

Sure, it's easy ammo. Just like the "he won't open up to me doesn't understand what we can do for him" whining. But I don't think it justifies calling him a dick or the most hated player in football. What he did doesn't even compare to some of the stuff that the most hated players have done.

Aaand another reason to hate Rick Reilly:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6017986

http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/5075

Maybe Reilly was just salty because, after he had invested three hours of his time at Halas Hall, Cutler declined to bare his soul, get in touch with his inner child or explain in detail what it is that makes him tick.

Imagine the gall of Cutler not to genuflect and share with Reilly his innermost thoughts the moment he saw him. What was Cutler thinking? How could he be so arrogant? I mean, this was THE Rick Reilly. How could he dare not answer HIS questions.

yeah, the whole praying at the church of elway was a bit ridiculous considering elway threatened his way out of baltimore, dumped his wife for a newer model and was never all that great to begin with.

yea, but he has like 7 car dealerships in the Denver area. CLEARLY he embraced their fans and deserves Canonization.

The steakhouse is pretty standard for guys who guide their teams to Super Bowls.

I've been to Elway's place. Pricey, just OK IMHO.

btw, bravo LeGere.

Brad Biggs chewed out Reilly too. He said that all the beat reporters figurex out that this is just how Jay is after being around him for a month. Reilly walks in and wonders what is up with Jay while all the regulars are just used to Jay's interview style. Reilly just made the story bigger than it was.

Simmons predictably picks the Hawks over the Bears and provides stupid reasoning (that being some friend of his questioned Jay Cutler).

At least each prediction featured a Jersey Shore comparison. Topical!

Wow I'm listening to Seattle sports radio...they don't have a lot of respect for the Bears. They are saying how dare their garbage team think they can so confidently predict a Bears victory. "The Bears don't scare anyone. A lousy team that have irked their way into a 2 seed. Congratu fricken lations". The Chicago media is downplaying the Seahawks and pumping up the bears because they are insecure about how bad their team is.

I put this on 5 mins ago and I've never heard such hatred of a football team and a city in my life. If anyone has streaming radio put on espn Seattle.

And then he asked Sammy Sosa to pee in a cup.

Ahhh I guess these people are the Boers and Bernstein of Seattle. There are tons of Bears fans calling into make points to defend the Bears and they are just hanging up on them then calling them idiots because they don't share their view point.

Their biggest gripe is a sun-times article today basically calling out every Seattle player and talking about how each is a has been or a reject. But I mean if Seattle was the 2 seed and was playing a 7-9 Team in the 2nd round of the playoffs they would be saying the same crap. You are a 7-9 joke of football who thinks they are entitled to have respect.

there's nothing particularly bad about seattle sports radio. i used to listen to kjar, i think, and seattle is just a city with an inferiority complex. don't get me wrong, it's a great city, but it's so isolated that they're both jealous and smug regarding their teams. they think no one knows about their teams and dismisses them, yet they always overrate them when something goes right.

I'm so sick of the bad team that got lucky storyline. That is being pushed either becasue people were overly critical of the Bears in the preseason and could not picture them winning 8 games, let alone a playoff game, or because they saw the one Lions highlight and hung on that forever. They beat the snot out of Philly long before people like Don Banks realized they were even beatable. They handled the Jets but that apparently didn't matter. They easily beat Minnesota twice. They beat GB (which admittedly wasn't that hard to do this year) when both teams were playing for something and the Bears offense was still in its early instable period.

Chicago lost their franchise QB for a game and a half, and when he returned he was obviously not at his best. They got the benefit of a controversial, but correct call in a game they should have won by more than a touchdown anyway going by the play on the field. They came into the season with all the capability to win 10 or more games. They stumbled at times but actually did win those games. They won their division and they earned the 2 seed. This isn't a 7-9 team that lucked into playing a crap division and against another mediocre division jus to get to 7. This team didn't stumble into the playoffs because they faced a better team that had no reason to play in a must win last game of the year. They played well enough to clinch early and were only playing for positioning up to the 2nd to last game of the year.

They could lose, only because every team can lose any game this year, like New England losing to Cleveland, or Pittsburgh losing to New Orleans and the Jets and Baltimore lost to the Bengals. But that's not because they are bad, or anywhere close to bad. They won both Monday Night games this year. They were 3-1 in primetime games. They showed up in games that mattered and won.

Im gonna have to. Especially if it's like 45-7 or something lol. The one guy predicted 17-10 Seahawks 17-10 cutler throws 3 ints and the bears have 4 turnovers or something.

They also said Jurko was on their show earlier in the week and completely dissed the Seahawks. He said stuff like "why would I be worried about the Seahawks? You've seen them all year." and after they asked him what he expected to see this weekend, "honestly I'm just anxious to see if the packers are coming to town next week. I'm hoping we don't have to go to Atlanta."
