The negotiations went like this:

Wood: "Jim, you know alot of teams are interested in me."

Hendry: "$10 million and that's my final offer."

Wood: "Sarah's from Chicago and really wants to move back."

Hendry: "OK..$15 million for two years."

Wood: "I'm going to get an oil change later."

Hendry: "Jeez Kerry, you are one tough negotiator..I'll put a no-trade clause in."

Wood: "I may let my beard grow back."

Hendry: "I'll let Mr. Ricketts know you want a piece of ownership."

Wood: "I'm going to put weight on again."

Hendry: "I'll make the announcement tomorrow."

Did you do this before or after you read that Kerry signed for $1.5 million?

Wow. Great deal. I was sort of against signing Wood because I thought he'd get far more than that. This is great though.

Fantastic. Hopefully this shifts Cashner back to the rotation where he belongs.

Good to have you back, Kerry.

I'm confused. He only signed for $1.5 million.

Don't you get it? HENDRY IS BAD AT NEGOTIATIONS

My apologies. I forgot Kerry signed himself.

This is beyond great news. I love having Wood back and for this cheap? Like somebody else said, I'd throw $1.5's at him until he wants to retire.

lol. I am not sure why people are ripping on this post. It does look odd considering what he signed for but I've often thought that is how Hendry does his negotiating with relievers. Funny stuff

Yeah, I chuckled when I read it.

That's a freaking GREAT signing. He is worth $3 just for the affect he is going to have in the clubhouse.

Good day for the Cubs. Marshall and Wood in the later innings is pretty nice.

Woody has taken some bad contracts to be a Cub. It's good to have him back, wish he never left.

Two good signings in a row! Let's keep it going, sign Webb, maybe try to trade for a 2B, let our farm system fill in the bench and the remainder of the bullpen and then win all of the games!

Well I take it all back, 1/1.5 is more than fine, it's actually quite good. All we need is one of Wood or Guzman to have some type of bounce back and the bullpen should be very solid.

I was under the impression that it is a longshot for Guzman to even pitch again. Wasn't the surgery he had somewhat experimental?

Gotta love Kerry and his loyalty. You see all these other relievers like Scott Downs getting 3-6 Mil per year and you know he would get in that range on the open market easily and getting offered 2 year deals and he signs with us for only 1.5 mil. Also, saying he would never wear a White Sox jersey to top it off. You gotta love this guy. =D>

I'd offer way more than $3.00 to a guy who can smash clubhouse boom boxes as well as Kerry Wood.

A friend of mine... well more like an acquaintance, who is a White Sox fan felt compelled to post this on my Facebook wall after mentioning the Cubs signed Wood

hahahahahahahaha......oooohhhhh my side hurts I'm laughing so hard, like you really needed to give the south side another reason to laugh

I'm struggling to find the humor in this deal, regardless if you're a douche bag White Sox fan or not

I live in the southwest suburbs and Im not really surprised by that comment, theyre all cocky, narcissistic assholes with no baseball knowledge. Half of them think Paul Konerko plays left field.

Be sure to reciprocate once Kerry shuts down the Sox late in a crucial interleague game.

That's amusing, seeing that Kenny Williams offered Kerry more than twice as much as he signed with the Cubs for.
