Grizzlies send OJ Mayo to Pacers for Josh McRoberts + a first round pick.

I really like this trade for the Pacers

I don't know what to think of this deal. Didn't Mayo punch a teammate on a plane and get busted for roids? And he's shooting 41% on the season? Someone inform me please.

Boston trades Erdan and Harangody to Cleveland for a second-round pick.

I have no idea what the Celtics are doing.

They're both fairly worthless, but it's not like they were making any money. I have to assume for my sanity's sake that they're clearing as much space as possible for signing a guy who gets bought out.

And as much as I hate Nate Robinson, and as much as I want Avery Bradley to get a shot, I am not ok with our backcourt depth at all. Von Wafer as the 2nd guard off the bench?? Yeesh

Probably Troy Murphy, then.

What are the chances Rip is bought out?

Cleveland and Detroit almost had a trade-buyout thing worked out for Rip, but Rip wouldn't agree to the terms of the buyout. So now for Rip to be bought out, Detroit would basically have to pay two years of Rip's salary all at once. IMO, doubtful.

I admittedly haven't seen Mayo play much but I don't quite get this deal either. It feels like an overreaction to having Dunleavy break his thumb the other night. The Pacers already have Granger, Rush, George, and Jones at the wings. They have a somewhat small offensive first point guard. Why get a shooting guard that is also somewhat small and offensive oriented? And who are they going to play at power forward other than Hansbrough?

On a talent level I get this deal. Mayo has more upside than the first round pick the Pacers were likely to get. I just don't see how he fits the team at all.

It looks like it's not going through anyway. Missed the deadline. As a Grizzly fan I'm happy.

NBA nixed Mayo deal because the teams didn't get it done before deadline. Oops.

It sounds like Memphis pulled out. Good thing too-that deal with have been a minor loss for the Pacers and a major loss for the Grizzlies.

Ya.

Different stories on what happened in the J-Mac/Mayo deal. 1 side is saying Mem pulled out. Other side is saying it was missed deadline.

Portland and OKC just got very interesting in the West. Unfortunately for them, they are a very likely 1st round pairing. Denver is 1/2 game ahead for 7th seed and is a new team. NO a game ahead for the 5th. OKC is pretty much cemented in the 4th spot.

Conspiracy theory: I've heard that Grizzlies GM and owner are never on the same page. Could the GM have pulled out and told his boss it was a paperwork problem?

And the winner could have to face the Spurs in the second round if the Lakers and Mavs advance also.

Yep, as I said the other day it's not going to happen until or unless they sell the franchise or have an agreement with a buyer. This sucks, I was hoping to get something out of Tayshaun today and while I didn't have high hopes on Rip, they got close.

What the [expletive] is Danny Ainge doing?

Green's role in Boston is about exactly what it should be in my opinion. He can get his minutes backing up Pierce and Garnett and can play either position depending on the matchups. His biggest problem on the Thunder was being such a shitty rebounder and he did not slide over to the 3 enough (understandably). Krstic is entirely meh. Collison/Ibaka were already outplaying Green/Krstic, IMO. Definitely don't think it was worth it for Boston, unless they know something about Perkins' knees that we don't know.

I think that this move means that it is time for Harden to move into the starting lineup. Hard to play Perkins, Ibaka, and Thabo all at the same time without getting way too predictable on offense. Nate should never see the floor ahead of Maynor or Westbrook.

Great move getting Mohammed for White and Peterson. Neither were ever going to crack the rotation and Mohammed adds to the frontcourt that is now big, deep, and tough enough to battle with anybody else's.

Westbrook/Maynor

Harden/Thabo or Cook

KD

Ibaka/Collison

Perkins/Mohammed/Aldrich

looks pretty damn good to me
