Gordon's a higher rated prospect, though. Unless you're still counting Castro, Gordon would be #1, Lee #2 and Lake #3 right now.

Yeah, I figured Gordon was. My point was not how to rate the two comparitively, just that they would be easily the two best "true" SS prospects in the minors (with Lake likely heading to third or another position).

I think Lake could stay at SS. But I don't think he'll get a chance to stay there long term in an organization with Castro & Lee. However, it does most for his value to keep him there as long as we can to see if he can develop there like he seems to be doing on offense.

Hm, interesting. I was talking the talk as Lake not being that good defensively, but it's nice to know he's a potential option.

If things worked out perfectly, Gordon could slide to 2B.......He has lots of upside, he hasn't played baseball all that long. Personally, I'll be shocked if we get that kind of return for Lilly and Theriot......

Is that really true? Tom Gordon's son hasn't played baseball that long?

He was big into basketball until his senior year of HS, when he switched to baseball. So yeah, he's relatively new to it.

Gordon is the Dodgers top prospect and possibly a top 25 prospect in the game. I'm not the biggest Gordon fan but that's just great value. I can't believe that's true.

I'll believe that the Cubs are getting Gordon when it is a done deal. I would rather the Cubs get one of the Dodgers top rated pitchers, but I really would have to give Hendry credit if he pulled Gordon off.

So what would Gordon project to: a slightly better Eric Young?

In a perfect world, I'd say Jose Reyes.

I just find it really hard to believe they would use him as trade bait. Furcal is getting older and his contract is up after next season, which is probably perfect for Gordon, who should be ready by opening day 2012 at the latest.

If I'm going to buy in to the Dodgers actually sending us one of their best propects, I'm going to say it'd be Aaron Miller. But, my gut tells me we'll be lucky to get an Allen Webster out of them. And I'd still be happy with that myself.

Oh, I agree that it's really unlikely. I'd be thrilled if it happens, though. I'd like to see any of their top 5 or so prospects instead of DeWitt, though.

From Dylan Hernandez (who is a beat writer for the Dodgers)..

Dodgers talking to Cubs about a multi-player deal that would include Lilly and a position player (probably not Theriot).

Who would the other player be? Fontenot or Baker?

Maybe Nady, though I don't know why they'd want the extra outfielder after getting Podsednik. I wish it were Theriot. Lilly and Theriot for DeWitt, Gordon and Ely wouldn't be a bad return at all.

That would be my guess.

I'd figure the other guy would be Fontenot, but seriously, is there much of a difference between him and DeWitt?

Yeah. I *really* like Martin and Miller. I think they are better prospects than Gordon.

FYI, Dylan Hernandez had a bad reputation in LA.

Probably Lilly and Castro for Garrett Anderson.

Now, not really. But DeWitt is younger with more potential to improve.

And we traded a future HOF'er to get Fontenot, so he's gotta be good, right?

On the possibility of Dee Gordon being traded:

Jason A. Churchill -- MLB Draft Blog/Rumor Central:

We wrote earlier this week that the Dodgers will not discuss Dee Gordon, so it'd have to be some outrageous no-brainer to change that.

Well, there goes that.

If anybody's going to change their mind with the trade deadline looming, it's Colletti, though. He did trade Carlos Santana and a prospect for Casey Blake.
