You're assuming they could have even gotten anything in return for him. You seem to be talking about him like they could have centered a trade around him when in reality he'd be a last minute add-on to a trade at best at the time.

I'm aware we wouldn't have got anything good for him, but at the least we could have sent him to the American League. Where he couldn't beat us.

I guess. It's really inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

Probably, but on a day where he's likely gotten the game winning hit against us, I feel like venting.

Everytime McGehee does something good I thank god Jim Hendry is our GM. Way to identify what you have Jimbo.

Nobody identified what they had. There's plenty to slam Hendry over, but expecting to somehow magically know that McGehee would have any type of sustained success in the majors based on what he had shown up until he was claimed is absurd.

I don't want to look it up, but didn't we have two spots open on the 40 man when we let him go? Couldn't we have at least tried to get something for him?

What could they have got for a 3rd baseman whose best OPS year in the minors was 776 and had just had his first cup of coffee in the majors (24 AB's) where he had a line of .167/.160/.208 and struck out in 1/3 of those AB's? Wouldn't you be upset if the Cubs traded any value for a guy whose numbers looked like that?

McGehee was a roster filler player. There was no problem by him going to a team in the division because he was more likely to cost them games by not being a major league player than what he has done.

The only problem with the Casey thing is they could have held onto him and used him as cheap backup option instead of constantly spending millions on crappy veterans. But you couldn't get anything for him in a trade and couldn't even direct where you send him because few teams were going to have any interest. Not to mention there was no reason to worry about him hurting you.

McGehee wasn't even a good bet to be a bench player.

Charge another run to Lou. His ERA is taking a hit the last 2 games.

to be fair, the bullpen probably would've given up some runs anyway.

Then you make them give up runs instead of letting our 2nd-year major leaguer, who's had to work hard the last 2 innings, go over the 100 pitch mark for no real reason.

Wells really tuckered out early today....blah.

he really shouldn't have come back out for the 7th. he lost his command in the 5th during the Bush PA and didn't look the same after. couldn't locate for crap and started nibbling. it's hard to blame lou with how bad the pen has been though.

A standing O for taking out Soriano.

This guy, as much as he has screwed up, could write a book about how to handle a major market while struggling.

That was smoked, but part of me wants to blame Adolfo just because he is Adolfo.

He's gotta play further back... gotta know the carom was gonna be strong.

He thought he had a play on it.
