Aren't you glad that we have 3 lefties in the pen now to face the likes of Votto, Fielder, etc.?

(Okay really 2 1/2 lefties)

It would be nice to use one of them in appropriate situations when your starter is clearly gassed and the other team's best hitter is coming up.

You mean use a lefty in a situation where you're SUPPOSED to use a lefty? Nah, we can never have that as long as Lou is still in charge.

Lou needs to be let go,and I would be ecstatic if he were fired tomorrow, but that's simply not going to happen.

What really concerns (like many others) is that Hendry is going to do something stupid to try and salvage the season (and his ass).

He's saving the lefties to face Pujols in a game situation.

I agree. I'm terrified of the midseason move where Hendry trades several top prospects for a mediocre veteran reliever.

Unless Aramis and Lee have pretty significant rebounds I don't think there's much worry to worry about in that regard. They're going to be nowhere near the WC or the Cardinals.

Yeah, I kept waiting for Bob to say, "I told you so."

I guess the thing that bothers me the most about the whole 7th inning thing is not that Votto homered, or even that Dempster was left in to pitch to him (although it was pretty dumb), it was that in the post-game press conference, Lou said he went out to the mound and asked Demp if he was ok and wanted to stay in. Demp said yes and Lou went back to the dugout.

Of course he's going to say yes! Every damn pitcher in baseball wants to stay in the game! I'd wonder about him if he had told you he wanted to come out! You've been around the game long enough to know this!!

Or it could show you that Lou couldn't give a rat's behind.

There are reports that Brenley was sent to the ER after the game because of a severed tongue. :rotfl:

Right. Lou basically just blamed Dempster for not asking to be taken out:

"He said he was fine," Piniella said of Dempster. "Two runs, 5 hits over 7 innings. Our bullpen's beat up. The guy hit it out of the ballpark. What are you going to do?

"Marshall was ready. Dempster, I went out to check him. He told me he was fine. We left him in the ballgame. We still had to pitch the eighth. The game wasn't over in the seventh.

"If he had told me he was tired, then we'd have taken him out. But he was fine. We let him pitch. He gave up a home run. What are you going to do?"

Really, Lou?

If Jimbo won't, it's time for Ricketts to step away from the toilets and Toyota signs and make a baseball move.

i turned the cubs on for like 15 minutes tonight, which was the first time ive actually watched them in a couple weeks i think. it took about 2 minutes of watching to see lou put marmol in with the bases loaded, then another 10 minutes to see loud bunt with one of our lone hot hitters to put a guy in RISP for our 2 black holes in the lineup.

looooouuuuuuu

yeah the level of lou's incompetence is really staggering now. thankfully it's with a mediocre team; i'd hate to see him sabotaging a good team the way dusty did in 2003 and 2004.

So when pinch hitting for Hill in the 10th inning, Lou uses Theriot, even though Soto is on the bench, and has to come into the game anyway. Yea who would want his .454 OBP leading off the inning. Go to hell Lou.

Dusty just couldn't do his job because of racism among cub fans. Just ask him he'll tell you.

And, you know, he couldn't use any white guys in the summer because black people are more accustomed to the sun, or something like that.

That was dumb even for Dusty.

I understand why we aren't liking Lou right now but if he gets fired he is the type of guy that will come out and say that he wasn't winning and not some lame excuxe like Dusty had

he is? the cubs have been playing like crap since the season started and lou has basically either blamed other people or thrown up his hands. he hasn't taken any accountability at all.
Posted
why the hell are you using two pinch hitters in the seventh inning, one of them hitting for the catcher, and you use two backup outfielders rather than your good-hitting catcher? [expletive] off lou.

Yeah, I really didn't get why Soto wasn't used instead of Nady if he's coming in to the game anyway.
