Purdue up to #4 in the Pomeroy rankings. They will face their toughest game to date when they go up to Minnesota to face a desperate group of Gophers on Thursday. Ryne Smith remains on fire.

That damn Creighton game. If we didn't blow that at the end of regulation, we'd be off to a 4-1 start in Valley play.

Road games against Missouri State and Northern Iowa this week aren't going to be any fun.

Ryne Smith remains on fire.

I didn't realize until today that Smith has only taken seven shots inside the arc this season. He's 4-for-7 inside the arc, 32-for-62 behind it. I hope that a) they can keep getting him open looks and b) he keeps hitting them.

WTH happened to ND tonight?

I got my hopes up.

Well, that and we were 3/16 from 3 and Marquette was 12/17. Best of luck to them having that happen again ever in life.

ND really needs to be able to win on the road consistently. I understand it's very hard to do in college hoops, but we in particular seem to have major issues with it.

Illinois needs Notre Dame to stumble if we want a chance to play in Chicago.

I have a feeling that even if ND doesn't stumble, if Illinois goes crazy and finishes first or second in the conference, they'll still go to Chicago.

And as long as they don't have to play UIC in the tourney, they should win there too.

I'll just leave this here for discussion...

The only discussion to have here is that it pays to be a guy who isn't asked to handle the ball or really do anything besides shoot when open. Being on a good team where you don't receive much defensive attention helps also.

Still, surprising at least to me to see three Big Ten guys in the top 5 there. Especially Bill Cole, who is probably Illinois' 7th option on offense.
