For the 2nd straight time, the smart kids from Notre Dame beat the more talented but stupid kids from UConn. It is dumbfounding how stupidly the Huskies play basketball sometimes. The wild chucks they tried to tie the game in the final minute were more amusing than anything.

A really big win for ND. Now, of course, they draw a 3-0 St. John's team that just beat Georgetown. South Florida and DePaul can't appear on the schedule soon enough for me.

I'm still not comfortable that we'll win this thing.

Memphis might be the 5th best team in CUSA this year. If Tennessee can't win this, they may go winless in the SEC.

We did manage to lose to College of Charleston and Charlotte. This is a weird team.

Yep, Jimmy Dykes said Tobias Harris is on the same level as Sullinger

Well...he is right there with Sullinger in usage.

I'd definitely take the field in the Pac-10 and Big 10, maybe the Big 12 too.

I'd definitely take the field in Big 10 and Big 12. I'd have to think about the Pac 10. Although Washington might be the only team that isn't terrible. They are so bad.

Washington has the Pac-10 in the bag already. There are 5 teams in the Pac-10 better than, say, Indiana, and Washington has already beaten two of them on the road. Coupled with Arizona's loss to an awful Oregon State team and Wazzu being swept in SoCal, Washington is a shoe-in.

I'd probably take Ohio State over the field in the Big Ten just because of their huge scheduling advantage. Even if you consider OSU even with Purdue/MSU/Illinois/Wisconsin, they get a leg up with the scheduling.

Well, Washington did lose Abdul Gaddy, one of their starting guards for the year. They do have Overton who played a lot anyways but Thomas and Overton are nowhere near as efficient as Gaddy.

Looks like Purdue has found their #3 scorer.

It is nice to see Ryne Smith hitting his shots. I really wish he could contribute more defensively though. Between Smith, Byrd, and Hart (once his foot heals up), Purdue has a few guys who can hit some outside shots when teams are making it difficult for Moore to get open. Terone Johnson has looked pretty good the past four games, as well.

I'm actually going to be in Mackey for the Purdue-Michigan State game on Jan. 22. I'm really looking forward to that one.

LOL, seriously?

Am I the only one who thinks Jared Sullinger is gonna struggle big time in the NBA? I just don't think he has the type of explosiveness to be a great pro.

I wish I could get back down there more often. I wanted to go to Madison to see them play, but it's on a Tuesday night.

Smith needs to get his foul issues under control. When he's staying on the floor, because he's hitting his shots, he gets in foul trouble. I think he has committed more fouls than anyone on the team so far in Big Ten play. That's wierd for a 3-Point specialist.

All three opponents so far have been from the bottom half of the league - but you've gotta be happy with an average of 82 points a game for and 65 points per game against. Terone, LewJack, and Ryne Smith have impressed me the most lately. Hart is really going to have to work for minutes if those guys stay hot.

I'm looking forward to seeing how far along they are with all the renovations they're doing.

I think the main reason Smith gets into foul trouble is that he's just not that quick. He can't keep up with some of the more athletic guys he has to defend and he ends up playing defense more with his hands than moving his feet to get better position. He ends up swiping at them as they drive by him, and more often than not, the refs are going to call a foul. That and he attempts to take charges a lot, which oftentimes leads to a blocking foul. Compare that to Barlow, who is quick enough to keep up with just about anyone he's guarding but constantly gets into foul trouble because he's over-aggressive.

Barlow also gets 1-2 charges per game when he decides to run down the lane at full speed regardless of what the defenders are doing.

I don't know about "big time", but I thought he looked a little slow.

There's a lot of fat [expletive] Sean May going on with Sullinger.

Yep, that is who he reminds me a lot of. I wouldn't want one of Matta's one and dones anyway though. They've all flopped.
