One more thing about last night: Weber deserves a lot of credit for having the team extremely well prepared to deal with NW's offense and defense. They played like they knew exactly how to handle every situation NW threw at them on both ends, aside from the turnovers.

I loved the wrinkles he used on offense. The hi-low. The backdoor UCLA cuts. It was nice to see.

In 3 conference games, Illinois is shooting 86 for 133, or 64.7%. That's unreal, and likely unsustainable.

You think?

the shots they've been getting have been good and they've used the 3 to set up the interior game. they haven't been hitting a lot of wild shots, they're just good shooters.

I won't dispute that they're good shooters or that they haven't been getting great looks. I will bet my house that their Big Ten percentages drop by 10 points by the end of the year.

they will play better teams, of course.

The problem is that the Illinois offense still hasn't been reaching its full potential because of turnovers. Against Northwestern, the Illini turned it over on 30 percent of their possessions. "But wait," you say, "wasn't most of that in garbage time when Illinois had four freshmen on the floor?" Some of it was, and there was certainly some ugly play over the final 16 possessions or so, but the Illini actually posted a 30 percent turnover rate in each half. All the miscues kept Illinois from surging higher than the 1.20 points per possession they scored, and it has to be a concern for Bruce Weber going forward.

Please sort out our ball security, as it is our Achilles heel right now. We also held NU to a season low 0.86 point per possession last night. I think its safe to say that defense will not be our undoing going forward, although I do think we are still a bit suspect at stopping dribble penetration.

Finally, the more I watch this team, the more important I think it is to get off to good offensive starts. This is especially true with regards to the two Mikes. They seem to loaf when they do not get involved early.

[expletive] Creighton and another piece of [expletive] Korver. How many kids do those parents have? 10?

Wait, there is seriously another Korver? Why the hell isn't Iowa offering any of them by now?

There's 4 of them all together. Two are in college right now. Ones at Creighton the other is at UMKC or something like that. I'm pretty sure Kyle is the only really good one I could be wrong though.

They all have that unnecessary K in their name too; besides Kyle, of course. Klayton was on that Drake team that won the MVC before losing to Western Kentucky on a halfcourt shot at the horn.

Announcer just said Baylor is looking to win a conference game on the road for the first time since 1998. How do those words come out of your mouth and you don't even pause to think, wait a minute.

Because he probably meant conference road opener and just misspoke. Guy announcing Mizzou-Colorado said just about the same thing and corrected himself.

Well they won their first conference road game in the '07-'08 season. Did he only mean opening conference game when it's on the road? Who cares?

Notre Dame creams 3-0 St. John's without Carleton Scott. I'm not sure what this team's ceiling is but I'm enjoying the [expletive] out of it.
