well, because they are.

why?

Why are the Colts better? Because their QB is much better and more accomplished, they had a better season. They lost their perfect season by taking a dive and have been more impressive in the playoffs, while New Orleans lost theirs by getting beat and had a tougher AFC championship game. That being said, Indy faced a bad playoff football team in their game. And New Orleans absolutely deserves their shot.

I get why people would think the Colts are better, but the way some people are talking it's like it won't even be a contest. And that's just silly.

There's a decent chance it won't be. I wouldn't say silly. I think the Saints will make in interesting at least though.

Ah yes, the no respect card. Like clockwork it shows up every year before the Super Bowl.

I'm really not getting why some people think the Colts are just that much better than the Saints. Like I've said before, I really think it has something to do with the fact that they are the Saints. It's etched in our collective minds that the Saints = bad football. It's like if the Royals were suddenly winning 100 games a year, I'd have a hard time taking them seriously even in the face of the stats.

The spread is 5.5. Pretty large, but not overwhelming. The Colts dismantled a team in the AFC title game while the Saints were very fortunate to win. I wouldn't be surprised or anything if the Saints won. Personally, you're just overblowing the extent to which people think Indy will blow 'em out.

As far as how close people think the game will be it's definitely the closest matchup in the last few years I think.

The Colts dismantled the Jets, but that was after playing a pretty bad first half. If the Colts are bad for a half again (which has happened more than a couple times this year for them), the Saints have enough firepower to put the Colts away, potentially.

I think the Colts will win, but I think the chances of a blowout are relatively low.

Also the Jets were the 2nd weakest team in the playoffs, which makes any comparison with the Saints struggles fairly pointless.

I think it's fair to point out that Manning dismantled the Jets very good defense while the Saints basically were outplayed but managed to stick around and win it in the end. It's just one game so of course you can't draw sweeping conclusions from it. If the roles had been flipped people would be saying this would be closer to a toss up.

so, the Saints and their cheap shots made it to the SB:

I still cannot believe they missed that.

Sharper told some Vikings that their gameplan was to take every possible shot on Favre and if they got flagged a couple of times, so be it. They felt like he's a different QB when he's beat up so they were willing to suffer the consequences. It worked I guess but if that flag had been thrown it obviously would have changed the game.

Everyone I was sitting with were shocked as well. You'd think that the ref who was helping him up and fixing his shoulder pads would have thrown it in that situation.

and btw, McCray was fined 20,000 today, and rightfully so.

This may very well be the dumbest retort in the history of this message board (excluding trolls).

OMC basically told you why you're wrong and you respond with the same hollow immeasurable BS you've been spewing for 2 pages.

none of what OMC wrote does anything to prove that Saints didnt have an incredible amount of luck and help in the playoffs. Before I made the "stats" statement, I was apparently looking at playoff only stats - my bad. But when the NFL appologizes for essentially blowing a major call in a championship game, of which most likely would have changed the game dramatically, there is pleny of "measurable BS" for me to make that claim.

Oh God, if the Saints win, are they going to give that ridiculous "nobody believed in us but ourselves" speech?

OMC will.

what a zinger

I thought it was hilarious

Great, now I don't want to think it was funny anymore.

The NFL is trying to say it has exclusive rights to the phrase "Who Dat?"

The NFL has really been making a big deal out of some dumb things lately. It made no sense when they tried to trademark "Big Game", and it doesn't make any sense to do this.
