So let me understand this....the Big Ten will now have 2 seven team divisions. They play 8 conference games. This will consist of the other 6 teams in the division, their protected game, and one other game against the other side of the conferece. So this means that Michigan will be playing Wisconsin once every 6 years (excluding big ten title game)? So much for the sense of community among Big Ten members.

If we go to 16 teams, does a team like Michigan just stop playing Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana and Purdue (and Maryland and Rutgers)? Or do they stop playing Ohio State so that they have a chance to play the other half of the league occasionally? Would they go to 9 conference games?

9 conference games and drop ND for those that had them on the schedule.

I would welcome starting the conference schedule one week earlier.

You almost have to go to 9 conf games. And with the dilution of football in the conf, the OOC slate may have to be pretty strong (assuming SOS actually counts, as it's supposed to, for the playoffs).

I don't think the big x gets the perception benefit the SEC enjoys. Everyone thinks every team in the SEC plays murderer's row in conf play. But if you're one of the great teams, like Bama, you may only have 2 other good teams in your division. But people see Florida, LSU, Georgia, USC and Bama all in the top 10 and give all SEC teams credit for a hard schedule w/o thinking about who plays whom. I don't think the big x will have that benefit.

You're the one that thinks Delaney's only goal in life is to get revenge against ND. Weirdo

They're just trying to get some football teams in there that Iowa can beat.

Should've went with Iowa State, especially considering the great natural rivalry that would bloom.

maybe iowa state and illinois will play in a bowl this year to settle it once and for all.

There's 12 other teams in the league besides those that have games scheduled with ND past 2014. Are none of them going to play a a marquee non-conference game?

The championship game would be "The Big Ten"

No, no I do not. I don't care about Delaney other than I'm an Iowa fan that doesn't care for the direction he's leading the big x. My only comments about ND and the big x were to dispute that ND had some interest in joining or would consider it. Of the several posters that have mentioned ND since the Maryland story broke, I am not one of them. You, not surprisingly, bring up ND constantly.

In less important but equally odd news, Boise State, San Diego State and BYU are talking about rejoining the Mountain West - in the former two's case, before they've even officially left.

Yeah I'd be pretty devistated by losing Rutgers as a conference-mate too.

Considering what was left in the Big East when they decided to join I'd bet the opportunity to travel into the NY market, however disconnected from the actual overall NY market, was pretty much the best part.
