so how did bradley get through an entire year with texas unscathed?

Because their fans aren't as dumb as ours?

people are really trying to blame the fans for this?

I'd probably put it at something like 50% Bradley's fault, about 30% the media's, and about 20% the fans.

Thanks. Sorry that I don't think the majority of the fanbase acting like a bunch of 7 year olds don't deserve a decent share of hte blame. Bradley f'd up by putting his foot in his mouth, but he was baited by the media and the fans turned on him way too quickly.

Maybe fans shouldn't have booed him, but that doesn't mean he needed to run himself out of town. Ask Derrek Lee, Fukudome, etc. how they handled being booed in their first year.

It's 0% the fans fault. The fans have been acting this way for years. They didn't target Bradley directly. They didn't boo him any differently than any other player they've booed over the years. There was plenty of evidence that the Cubs fans are rough on their players. It's a pretty well known fact that at Wrigley, the crowd is right over the OFs. None of this is unusual. The fans shouldn't expect to "cheer" any differently because of one player.

Bradley is guilty of playing poor baseball and countering that with constant comments and complaints that don't endear himself to anyone. It's his grave, he dug it. Bradley has been run out of multiple major league cities despite sometimes excellent play. It's definitely a pattern that can't be ignored.

I didn't say Bradley was without blame. But the man had a target on his back from day one. Paul Sullivan was talking crap about him as far back as I believe it was the first televised spring training game. The fans got on him before the calender hit May. He's handled things poorly(he should have just shut himself away from the media) but he's definitely had to deal with way more crap than he should have.

look, this is 99 percent bradley's fault, but that doesn't excuse the way our idiotic fans act

According to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark, the MLB Players Association is considering filing a grievance to challenge the Cubs' suspension of Milton Bradley.

Bradley was sent home Saturday after a season full of battles with the media and fans in Chicago. The MLBPA will first confer with Bradley and his agents, Seth and Sam Levinson. If they OK the move, this could get really ugly. Either way, it appears the Cubs will try to move the disgruntled this offseason.

which cities has he been run out of?

By the fans or by anybody? He was definitely run out of town by Cleveland, LA, and Oakland. The partings with both San Diego and Texas were much nicer, and I have no idea about Montreal.

i guess i wasn't clear. a lot of those places he wasn't excellent and it was easy to run him out of town. but it's true, he made enemies of a couple of teams and didn't make enemies of some others.

I have a feeling that if the MLBPA pursues this and more facts come out, Bradley will look even worse than he already does. I seriously doubt that a grievance will be filed.

Well if you heard it on Chicago SportsTalk Radio, its definitely true. I mean those guys are always fair, never jump to conclusion, and always know what they are talking about......

So you believe that Bradley taking himself out of the game Thursday and the lineup Saturday was completely due to injury? And someone just made up the story about him getting into an argument with Von Joshua about pinch-hitting?

(Once again, take with a grain of salt due to the media's "Destroy Milton Bradley" bias.)

"Bradley had been more erratic than usual this weekend, telling teammates he was having marital difficulties and sparring with hitting coach Von Joshua. Hendry spent the last three days contemplating the suspension.

Bradley's downfall began when he pulled himself from Thursday's game with apparent knee soreness, one day after manager Lou Piniella pulled him after the third inning on a double switch. Bradley's angry postgame media session embarrassed the organization, and his tug of war the last few days with Piniella became untenable.

Bradley took himself out of Saturday's lineup, then refused to pinch-hit late in the game, leading to Joshua getting in his face. When Bradley complained to the Daily Herald about "negativity" surrounding the organization, Hendry finally pulled the plug."
