  1. They are doing it so the world series does not go into November. The idea for ending on Wednesday is that the divisional series would start the following Saturday.
  2. I dont know if you have it now or not but i have the studio version and from the radio I agree as well that the country music thing was completely awful, this year is a little better but they really need to go back to "everybody loves the cubs" or "here come the Cubs" by the beach boys
  3. All 3 are garbage but youre really not going to win anything to fontenot and Fuk playing everyday
  4. The only reason day games hurt the Cubs is due to attendance. If the Cubs had a larger stadium and more night games, they would have better attendance numbers. No offense, but the daytime temp excuse is lame. It's not like Chicago is a tropical climate. There are only 2 months out of the year where Chicago has an average daytime high above 80 degrees. July is 83 and August is 81. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of hot days in Chicago, but they don't come close to the temperatures and humidity levels in Miami, and the Marlins have 2 championships. If its so lame, then why do the Marlins as you posted play the majority of their home games at night? Why do the Rangers and Braves all play the majority of their games at night? Why does tampa and Houston play in domes? Because they can. and this team will continue to win nothing because they are at a huge disadvantage by playing there.
  5. Money. so be it, but this club will always be at a huge disadvantage playing at Wrigley Field and its day games compared to every other team in the game.

Youre right, Chicago is not a tropical climate, its temperate so we get all types of weather including extremely humid with high temps, like the past few weeks have shown
  7. ?????? it has more to do with the cubs got nothing back for him and that player was released 2 weeks into the season to bring shark up. Hendry likely could have gotten much more at the deadline, esp with the way Marquis pitched last season. We have no idea how Marquis would have pitched had he been with the Cubs last year. At the time he was moved he was an unremarkable starting pitcher who typically stunk in the second half with a terrible contract. It was a contract dump, and as such there's no way the Cubs could have expected to get much in return. True but to give him away for nothing was [expletive] in my opinion.
  8. i had a argument with Fred awhile back about how daytime temps would affect players overall. My basis was since they start the majority of their games at 120, they would tire out a lot easier because that time of day (between 1-4) are the hottest parts of the day. Most of the other teams play night games and its gradually getting cooler and they dont have to deal with the sun beating down on them for the entire game. The human body starts to struggle to cool itself off at around 80 degrees, this is true for well conditioned athletes as well, Also the dump on Clark and Addison is not a great spot to build a team. You have to build the cubs with 30-40 games with the wind blowing in, 20-25 with the wind blowing sideways and the rest blowing out. if the Cubs played in Schaumburg or anywhere like that, i think they would have won it all a few times since. 1969 especially comes to mind because all they players now say they got tired in August.
  9. i can totally see the Cubs trading Z to the White Sox, the Sox would be the only team Z waives his NTC for.

  11. I wonder if the people who want to trade Soto actually watch or know anything about baseball. The guy is cheap, gets on base, is a decent catcher and did i mention is CHEAP. It's not his fault that Lou is a moron.
  12. This would become a total disaster for the Cubs. Remember 2008 when they had a closer and then they decided to let the decent closer go for a pitcher who preferred to throw BP. Good relief pitchers are a extremely hot commodity, you dont trade them for nothing and esp to a team in the same division
  13. So he gets one chance after 2005, another after 2006, another after 2009 and yet another after 2010? He dismantled a 98 win team and made a horrible signing in bradley. Overtime his magic in 2003 wears off. They have not won a single game that mattered since game 4 of the 2003 NLCS And Marquis, what a moron trade that was, gave up a ok pitcher for a reliever they cut 2 weeks into the season so they could bring shark up.
  14. First team to 20,000 games, but only 2nd team to 10,000 wins. [sigh] Still there are only 4 teams with 10000 wins
  15. Good Lord, 3 times in a year (yes over 2 seasons but still less than a year) Edwin Jackson of the Dbacks did it with 8 walks
  16. They are going to evacuate the stands soon, these storms moving in are potentially very bad, winds in excess of 80mph
  17. The idiots' money spends just as well as the true fans'. obviously it has helped the product on the field.
  18. Yes, i love that place, there is now one in Glenview and Park Ridge
  19. I did that in 2008 with bleachers. I like sitting in the bleachers once in awhile, but after the 4th or 5th game, I wish I had a different vantage point and could sit on the other side of the park. The people don't bother me though...you gotta expect a big contingent of "lets get drunk and have a good time" fans when the Cubs suck this badly. What's sad is that i now know why so many Sox, Cards, etc etc etc fans think Cubs fans are the worst in baseball. Its because its true. Id rather have 15k there who care whether the team wins or loses than 38k who are there to only get drunk.
  20. i regret getting bleachers on that preseason 9 pack. There are so many complete morons that no nothing about the game. It's really sad how many fights there are as well. Getting there early to stand in line is annoying as well.
  21. just another step towards replays
  22. That's hot. yes, nothing like a verbal beat down from a hall of famer
  23. I really think there's a category between legendary and tolerable, for those who are above average but not at the level of all-time great. To me the difference between legendary vs. tolerable would be like the difference between A vs. C in school with no B in between. And I'd put Len in the above average but short of legendary category. Ok, there has to be a category for Pat Hughes who is actually good. Fred Manfra and Joe Angel (orioles radio) also in this category. So there are basically 3 baseball announcers that exist above tolerable. BTW, Legendary is not necessarily synonymous with good or enjoyable. I think Pat Hughes will go down as a legendary announcer.
