to be a starter that would require him developing at least 2 more pitches other than his fastball and i bet the Cubs are thinking that might take a very long time..
If he were in the National League, that type of offense would work, however in the AL you need a lot of power to have any chance to make it deep into October. The 05 Sox had the speed but they hit a ton of home runs as well.
the way truffle described Castro in his post reminded me of a certain noodle arm the Cubs had in 2006, hit for average but low OBP. I can only hope he develops some power..
I dont think Demp should have been in their in the 8th, he had over 100 pitches and its still early in the season, it was only asking for trouble and that is what happened
He won't do that until it's mid-June and 15,000 show up to Wrigley to watch them fall 20 games back. If it didnt happen in 2006, its not goin to happen now, its the first game on 161
its not at all shocking that he still sucks, he had a era above 6 in Spring Training, he isint very good at all. The sooner the POS is off the team the better
Ah i remember why i dont do game threads, the amount of panic over 1 inning when there is AT LEAST 1457 innings left and 161 more games. Just a reminder, the cubs lost the opener in both 2007 and 2008 and lost the first 2 in 2008. In 2006 they slaughtered the reds, just saying opening day has little to do with the rest of the year.
Your pitcher faced 10 batters. He walked 2, struck out 1, gave up 1 home run and allowed six balls in play. That's not 54.00 ERA bad, but it's bad. of the 6 balls in play, 2 possibly could have been caught for an out
