  1. Someone should tell him that Cubs dont get clutch hits with the bases juiced
  2. there's idiot fans in every market. Yes but im willing to bet that a majority of "cubs fans" are too stupid to realize anything of what is being talked about in here. Seriously i had two girls last week asking if the first team to score wins.
  3. youre average cub fans knows very little about baseball, after going to wrigley it makes me think that cubs fans are some of the dumbest in baseball.
  4. Likewise, the problem with Castro is Piniella. If this team didn't have such a terrible track record with this sort of thing, I wouldn't really care. But they have the same people making decisions, the same manager who changes his mind on an hourly basis and is all too quick to open the door to a doghouse. The same GM who is all too willing to wait until a player is at his lowest value before pulling the trigger on a deal. Are you suggesting they should trade Castro? I agree with the Piniella part, i hate Piniella and think he's a moron when it comes to managing young players. But I can see upper management letting him know that they want this kid to play period, despite how much he struggles. No he is saying that with Paterson and Pie, they were traded when they had garbage trade value because of how the team handled them.
  5. How so? Both were top prospects with high celings (supposedly). Both were rushed to the majors well before they were ready, and both fizzled out and became completely worthless in the short span of a few seasons. This is following the same pattern. I don't see how it's out of line to expect the same result. Castro strikes out about half as much as either of those guys and actually earned this promotion rather than promoting Pie or Patterson when they weren't really dominating. Pie had a 973 OPS in AAA the year he was called up to the majors. Patterson was promoted without actually dominating past low A (like what they are doing with Vitters), but Pie fits the treatment. Yeah, Pie succeeded at every level of the minors. I don't know where this perception is coming from that he was Patterson Part Deux. This is my concern with Castro, that the fans are going to turn on him quickly when he doesn't dominate right away. The problem with Pie is Piniella would pull him after a bad game and then he would sit for a few days and then get a start and go 0-4
  6. FYI, it might rain tonight in Cincy, We might have to wait a day... Im not sure really what to think, its something that might inject a sense of fun back into the team. Yes he could be horrible and he could only be mediocre but he will have the best hitting coach in the game and if our stupid manager will let him take his lumps and learn, we will be fine. I am not saying he is Ryan Braun but Braun spent a month in AAA and never looked back. Yes Castro never made it there but we shall see.
  7. Then why are you still managing Lou? hahaha i was just going to post that
  8. Why is Dempster not worth what he's making? I agree with you, He has been very good since he changed back over to a starter with over 200 innings both years...
  9. I really think change has to start at the top and Hendry and Lou have to go. As each games goes by, Lou just looks more and more lost. The game has past his managing style long ago. Yes there was 2008 but like those spectacular M's teams, he was out managed and beat when it counted most. It's also very sad to hear the manager of the team say "well i dont know, what do you want me to do". I personally think this team has quit playing hard for him. Hendry's bad signing and trades far outweigh Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez. He traded Nolasco, Pinto and i forgot the other guy for slappy, signed a mental midget in Bradley and then spent all last off season trying to fix his mistake and screwing the 2010 team over. He kept Neifi Perez around and has a fetish for mediocre IF's. He gives a ton of money to Grabow but didn't take Capps, seriously It goes on and on.. and the worst trade of all, getting rid of Jason Marquis for a player we cut 2 weeks into the season so that total piece of crap Shark could be called up. So in affect, they traded Marquis for Shark
  10. If the Rickets came in and spent 90-100 million wisely, they could field a contender. I doubt they will truly house clean, after all the stands arent even filled now, it would only get worse.
  11. They have been owners for 6 months. Even the McCaskeys took the Bears to 2 Super Bowls. I see nothing wrong with them cutting payroll, it has not done any good having a 150 million payroll.
  12. i thought he was completely obnoxious since he wore those stupid camo undershirts. I am so glad MLB told him this isn't the ghetto.
  13. I will say this about Soriano, at all the games ive been to this year which is 6, he and Rudy have gone after BP to work in the batting cages for about 20 minutes. Ive only seen one other player do this and thats Byrd once.
  14. it was the oddest thing today, whenever the Cubs came up to bat, the wind somehow, like God himself came and made the wind blow in hard. Sure enough when the Dbacks came up the wind magically switched back and they were hitting bombs. The cubs only had warning track power
  15. Yea the weather looks a lot better now than earlier in the week. There is a chance for severe thunderstorms though so keep that in mind from the 2008 derecho that hit Wrigley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy_oX6SURRE&feature=PlayList&p=37DC100163AEFAA9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=34 That was an amazing night. The way Berkman reacted at one point was hilarious. They even resumed the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ml2zI5XlwQ
  16. I could see Gorzelanny being traded for relief help and Zambrano being moved back into the rotation
  17. kind of hard if you're in a car well look at it this way, for as bad as many think Ron is, he is still nowhere near as bad as Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson. Jackson has been using Pat Hughes' "its gotta chance" occasionally as well
  18. I love how many people continually rip on Rothschild and say he should be fired.
  19. Yea the weather looks a lot better now than earlier in the week. There is a chance for severe thunderstorms though so keep that in mind from the 2008 derecho that hit Wrigley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy_oX6SURRE&feature=PlayList&p=37DC100163AEFAA9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=34
  20. Pat and Ron were talking about that and they said if the pitcher throws the ball and it hits the dirt, the ump throws it away. However if the catcher throws it and it hits the ground, the ump practically never checks the ball.
  21. Did anyone hear Pat rip Miles during todays broadcast?
  22. :-k I am not all that shocked they are thinking of bringing him up (if true). What is more interesting to me, is what is the counter move? Does Fontenot have minor league options? Are they working on trading one of Theriot (least likely)/Fontenot/Baker? I don't approve of bringing up Castro at any point this year for many reasons, but partly because of the poor job Lou has done with young position players over his time here (sporadic playing time, not showing must patience, etc.). I wouldnt be shocked if Tracy is DFA'd
  23. That article has a bunch of words with saying absolutely nothing. It basically says, "Hey Cubs fans, the organizations top prospect is doing well in AA. He may be be called up to Chicago really soon, but then again he may not be, nobody knows. The people whos jobs it is to over see these things, are doing that, so stay tuned, but we don't know for how long." thus, the take it with a grain of salt comment
  24. He has had bad first months before, it all worked out in the end. He batted .241 in 2005--- finished .302 .197 in 2006--- finished .291 Lee hit .189 the first month of 2009, finished .306
